Account Transfer

I am unable to activate my account from SETI@Home Classic to the new BOINC based one. I had started to use the new BOINC/seti@home before I noticed the opportunity to transfer my old account so the system issues me a new account ID but when I try to use said ID, it's unacceptable because there is 'already an account using that e-mail address'. Is there any way out of this?
