Historically, nearly everyone that has said something was impossible has been proven wrong at some point. 200 years from now people will undoubtedly look back on our time and marvel at how little we knew about the workings of the universe. If it's possible, we will eventually find a way to do it.

@ Bob DeWoody: I would have to agree with you on your last comment. But even if we do get to that point, hopefully, we'll also have other settlements established within the solar system to live. I'm sure there are a lot of folks who would be happy living in space even if it's within the solar system.

This is off the topic, but does anyone know how far Man has explored the solar system in Arthur C. Clarke's "3001: The Final Odyseey"?
