Quick question maybe. I've got the optimized apps from Lunatics .40 installer and I enabled getting AP 6.0 tasks. I now get AP 6.0 tasks, but they'e always CPU which I've been having issues with recently. ATI GPU tasks run just fine, but AP and MB seem to slow way, way down after the platform has been up for 10 hours or so. This started before .40, haven't figured it out yet, but turning off hyperthreading seems to have helped. Anyway, to the topic at hand, like I said I get AP 6.0 tasks, but they're so far all CPU which this platform hates right now. I had to abort one after it ran for 13 hours and was <25% done. It seemed dead in its tracks. I'm trying to use the rescheduler to point AP tasks to the GPU, but BOINC marks them immediately as "high priority" and starts them on the CPU. I never get a chance to reschedule them. I mean it's 3:30 am pst on 3/31 and I'm watching an AP download with my mouse hovering over the rescheduler run button. Too late... damn thing started as "high priority." I've turned off AP 6.0 tasks until I can get them rescheduled to my GPU, figure out my CPU problems, or slow down this "high priority" thing and give me fighting chance. Any suggestions Oh Sage Ones of the Number Crunching Forum? This is starting to piss me off. Doug |

Thanks! I'll give it a try. I feel whole again! Doug |

Thanks! I'll give it a try. I feel whole again! Check with the developer (Raistmer) whether the checkpoint files are compatible between the CPU and GPU applications. Even I'm having difficulty keeping up with all the changes round here, but I seem to remember that at one stage they weren't (AP only, MB is OK - unless I've missed a change there too). If the checkpoint files aren't compatible, a task rescheduled between resources while running may (at best) start again from zero, or (at worst) keep running but produce inaccurate (and hence invalid) results. |

Thanks! I'll give it a try. I feel whole again! AP GPU checkpont incompatible with AP CPU checkpint and vise versa. MB's are compatible. |

AP GPU checkpont incompatible with AP CPU checkpint and vice versa. If somebody does reschedule a running task, what happens? Do the applications recognise that the previous checkpoint file is incompatible, and restart from zero automatically, or does the user need to take garbage-prevention action? |

AP GPU checkpont incompatible with AP CPU checkpint and vice versa. I may be the first to find out. I'll let you know. Got a new AP V6 task and was all ready to reschedule, finger on the button the whole schmear. It was an ATI task! Go figure. I'll have to wait a while longer I guess. |

AP GPU checkpont incompatible with AP CPU checkpint and vice versa. Wouldn't that suspend all tasks in the project though? I just happen to be awake now and watching it. I may get an AP CPU task when I'm away or finally sleeping. I don't mind losing a little time because the GPU will kick the AP CPUs butt. If you have the asset (pun intended) might as well put it to its best use. I also like to push VHARs to my GPU. They finish in 1/4-1/3 of the time of ones on my CPU. I can run 2 at a time on the GPU vs 3 on the CPU. I was able to get 7 going at once until my hyperthreading (possible) problems showed up. Of course they took nearly twice as long, but became more competitive in completed tasks/hr relative to the GPU. Ahh, the tuning games! |

Occasionally I need cruise control. I've got hardware upgrades to look forward to. Then I have to resurrect my Linux system, maybe find a use for a Core Duo I just fell into... I have more kitties than msattler and 1/50 of the RAC. |

Why not suspend the project when you're assigned a new AP for the CPU. Then it can download and not start running on the CPU immediately. In that way you have all the time in the world to reschedule it to the GPU, and after that resume the project. I'd suspend the specific task instead. It'll still show "downloading" as status until that completes, but will immediately change to "suspended" thereafter. Joe |

Now all I get are ATI AP v6 tasks, no CPU. BoincRescheduler doesn't find them. I have 2 ready to run and it shows 0 CPU and 0 GPU AP wu. I'm running BoincRescheduler v 2.6. Maybe a new one is/will come out? Don't know whether or not it sees any of the other new tasks. |

Now all I get are ATI AP v6 tasks, no CPU. BoincRescheduler doesn't find them. You should be able to set up the 'Other' tab to reschedule v6 AP Wu's Claggy |

Now all I get are ATI AP v6 tasks, no CPU. BoincRescheduler doesn't find them. I was looking for that answer too, but what will I fill in with 'application'??? "astropulse_v6.01" won't work..... |

Now all I get are ATI AP v6 tasks, no CPU. BoincRescheduler doesn't find them. That's because the application name is astropulse_v6 Claggy |

Now all I get are ATI AP v6 tasks, no CPU. BoincRescheduler doesn't find them. I'm fighting with the BoincRescheduler now. I finally got 2 CPU AP WUs. They didn't start immediately so I have suspended them. I'm running the rescheduler from the "other" tab. Apparently I have to enter a project url, which to me would mean the directory on the disk where the executables and data exist for SETI. For me that location is: C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu\ And the application is astropulse_v6? By the log entry I'm not even finding the URL. I get: 01 April 2012 - 13:15:00 ERROR: Project not found (C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu\) 01 April 2012 - 13:15:00 ERROR: Scan completed with an error. I've tried different mutations of this like going up a level, 2 levels to no avail. I'm certainly no BoincRescheduler guru though. I cannot find much documentation on it although my guess is it's smattered around the pages of this forum. Suggestions? |

I will build a new rescheduler version 2.7. The application name is now user definable. But I like to know the default version right now. Is it: astropulse_v601? it used to be astropulse_v505 TThrottle Control your temperatures. BoincTasks The best way to view BOINC. Anza Borrego Desert hiking. |

Now all I get are ATI AP v6 tasks, no CPU. BoincRescheduler doesn't find them. It almost works now. Rescheduler sees them, but won't reschedule them. I show 2 CPU "other" and 0 GPU. Set to reschedule if GPU tasks are less than 200 to fill to 400. I would think that would work since it says 0 and I only have 91 EH and 2 AP on the GPU so I would think I covered all the bases. I've tried a slew of other values as well. Others must have gotten this to work by now. Why do I have to be the special child? |

A new version 2.7 is ready for download: http://www.efmer.eu/forum_tt/index.php?topic=428.msg1831 David asked me to tell you not to use the rescheduler. So use it only as a last resort. As the rescheduler seems to mess up the new credit system. TThrottle Control your temperatures. BoincTasks The best way to view BOINC. Anza Borrego Desert hiking. |
