I run a AMD 8 core and a 560TI.

Depending on the task, It will sometimes only use 1 core and split into 8 different projects at once. I would prefer all 8 cores working on one item as the tasks are completed much faster this way.

The second thing is some of the items wont even run if I turn my GPU off, once I flip it back on the GPU queues right up and starts hitting those tasks that wouldnt be done by others. I dont mind running the GPU for this but I dont want it running wide open because the Vid Card doesnt have the cooling the cpu does and running wide open my temps are higher then i would like to see them on the vid card.

Any Advice on either of these would be great. I am on the Milky Way and Seti Projects.

That requires a multi-threaded application, which Seti does not have. So it'll run one task per CPU and GPU core. Milkyway has a multi-threaded application that will use all cores to run certain tasks (only their N-Body tasks).

The default setting for BOINC is to only use the GPU, when the computer is not in use, is idle. If you changed that, you best put it back. Or, of course, add cooling to the GPU. A Zalman cooler isn't that expensive and is reasonably easy to add to most videocards.

Or you can use TThrottle to trim BOINC's sails a bit if things get too hot.

Perfect, just the solution I was looking for, thanks.

Thanks Ageless too. Watching it I can see how some are multi core and others arent and how it is prioritizing along with my GPU. Xièxiè (refering to firefly)
