Holy cow! Almost 26 hours between posts to this thread??? And over 40 hours since the last substantive post.

Something is seriously (not) the matter if we can all go that long without b*tching about something.

Anyone else getting 'unable to contact server, project might be down' on attempts to get work?

Got that last two attemps, prior attempt reulted in project has no work..

I've been out of GPU tasks for a bit:-/ Before the outage I got minimal ammounts of WU, far too few to carry me even part way through an outage.

Well, its just a wee bit strange considering the server staus page shows no problems with the requisite servers..

Cheers,

Not exactly. There are definately some DB-troubles. For example, a lot of WUs waiting for validation, assimilation etc...

But the sched, upload & download servers appear ok.. And those should be what boinc is trying to contact AFAIK.

Message 1213664 - Posted: 3 Apr 2012, 21:12:58 UTC - in response to Message 1213658.

Every Tuesday after the outage, from time immemorial, there's been a logjam lasting from a few hours up to 12 hours or more, when connections to the servers are flakey at best, and totally impossible at worst. Why would this Tuesday be any different?

I always wonder why it seems as if people becomes surprised every Tuesday. It reminds me of the first winter day each year, when the roads are slippery. Every year that too seems to take people by surprise.

Edit: Jokingly I ask: Wassup dudes and dudettes? Is this some kind of Alzheimers Light, or what?

LOL

Nah, just the result of several hours of system upgrades and hassles with M$ activation paranoia and a shortage of WU prior to the outage..

Didnt see you asking about astropulse, so I guess your cache is more or less OK:-)

Any idea where a good local clinic treating seti addiction might be found?

When it comes to Seti addiction, I have the sad duty to inform you that there is no known cure for it. The only thing that helps, is to move permanently to a cottage deep in the wilderness, where there is no electricity, and no mobile internet coverage.

right, i agree to some point, but electricity is needed,

I'm dry here and can't pick up tasks. Hopefully the system will clear up in a few hours so I can get back to RAC building.

And to finish this off, I'll add a mini whine:

Where's the new MB 7 app? As I said before, I will not install AP 6, until MB 7 is released.

That's likely going to be months away, Still waititing for the 6.98 app and the Cuda app, ;-)

Well, I can wait. I'm an expert in the waiting game :-)

My RAC will drop like a stone here, when I dedicate 50% of my computers time to Beta, but in a hundred years, who will care about that?

All I can tell ya is the r557 SSE2 v6 app is running very nicely on my top rig.
No need for you to wait for MB v7.

I do run r555 on my Celeron speed demon, but I will not install anything on my other machines until there is a release from Lunatics which includes opt MB V7.

It's not because I can't do it Mark, it's just that I'm a stubborn Swede who doesn't want to do it twice (first the 0.40 install with the AP 6 CPU and ATI, and then a new installation with MB7 when that is released).

I can wait.......And if I have to wait more than 6 months, I can also change my mind.

LOL

LOL...OK, that's fine. Just wanted to be sure you knew that the v6 app is ready now, and it is not mutually exclusive of MB 7.
As you wish......

OK, who greased the pipe?? I checked a few minutes ago and had a bunch of downloads in backoff. Hit retry and they flew down the pipe at the fastest speed I've ever seen. All of them came down at over 100.KBS

Same here, downloads at around 100kB/s.
Amazing the difference no AP work makes to the network pipes, and every other MB WU isn't a shorty.

I've been seeing some wu's download around the 240kB/s rate.

Well, if you look at the Cricket graphs, you will see that bandwidth usage is dropping. Which probably means that most caches are finally full up to the current limits, and work that is issued should download fairly well.

Whew, something or someone really opened the flood gates the later part of this afternoon. I had one download say 127k, but it went back down to 10 right away. Then gradually it has built and built until I had three downloads coming in at once and all of them at 70 or 80k to start. Just a few minutes ago, one hit around 327k for its brief second of activity. This is what happens sometimes with GPU Grid, but never on SETI for me.

Thank you. Thank you. Either the folks at BOINC or SETI or both have really done good. I hope you know what it was that opened the gates up after about a week and a half of very slow going.

Enjoy it while it lasts.
Download traffic continues to drop. Even uploads are dropping off. Won't be long & it'll all come to a complete halt.
