I'm a newbie, so be gentle. I see that I'm expected to allocated at least 2 hours/week to participate. What I really need to know is how much bandwidth might I expect to consume. I realize there might not be a simple answer but I need to know how this will impact my internet usage as I'm limited to 200Gb/month and really don't know how much of that I actually use.

it all depends on how fast you process your work. each MB is about 365 kb down and about 25 kb up AP WU's are 8MB down and about 30 kb up. You'll also have to take into consideration using a GPU which can burn through a MB WU in about 3 minutes.

It is also possible to limit the bandwidth usage - either to a fixed number of bytes / second or limit total bytes allowed for some number of days. What happens in this case is that BOINC will start a time period and if it reaches the total number of bytes it will stop transmitting or receiving until it reaches the end of the time period.

Thanks for the help. I discovered I can check my bandwidth usage for my ISP. Last month I only used about 4% so that is probably as good an estimate as any. Now that I know I can check it periodically I can track usage to see if I'm getting too close to max.
