I made the second account using:

Control panel / user accounts and family safety /add or remove user accounts/create new account.

Name the second account something different than the first.

That's it. !!!!!

Every time you restart you will have to choose which account you want to log into,
but it only slows the start up time by a few seconds(small price to pay).

ComboFix did wonders for me in the past and it's proven to be a major painkiller for that type of crap. I always gave it a chance before I start reinstall everything from scratch.

Sorry if this is obvious, make sure to create the 2nd account as an administrator account.

I had the same problem several weeks back(before I joined S@H). I now have a 2nd administrator account on all my Win7 machines with separate names and passwords.

Yeah, good point dg6580004.

@ Zeus, good thinking, wish I'd thought of that before.

Yeah I just got iTunes back on the PC as well as gpu-z 0.60, all My Mp3s are still out in the car CD changer of course and the pics are in the camera, but they will wait some and I even installed Paint Shop Pro v4.12(an old 32bit program with a 16bit installer, hey it works, one dll couldn't be registered, but it still runs, copyright on this version expired in 1996, yet it was built in 1997, go figure).

I loaded up My browser and I didn't realize that Firefox 12.0a1 had been upgraded to 14.0a1, Nice browser, only problem that I can see in 14 right now? If one bookmarks a page one has NO control over where to put the bookmark, it just goes into the unsorted area as No stinkin dialog box comes up to give one a choice as to where the bookmark were to go...

So I kept 14.0a1 from upgrading from 12.0a1 to 14.0a1 again in the browser, then I proceeded to install 12.0a1 from My PC, I even pressed where It said upgrade, no upgrade happened, so I'm happy, 14.0a1 can wait until Mozilla fixes that problem. :)

Oh and I'm not liking 285.62 WHQL, It runs hotter than 285.38, so sometime on Tuesday I'm going back to 285.38...

Firefox 11 is the current release version, 12 is the beta. 14 is just a gleam in someone's eye. Are you sure it was 14? Was it another trojan?

There are 4 release points for FF.

Firefox=11
Beta=12
Aurora=13
Nightly=14

Nightly is bleeding edge, I am also running it currently.

No, this was after I loaded the OS on to the formatted hdd, there is a Firefox 14.0a1(Nightly), I'm using the slightly older 12.0a1, 12.0a1 is an alpha, a stable one...

The dialog box for bookmarking a page was missing in 14 x64 when I used it, 14 does save bookmarks though, just not where one wants to put one at, beyond that I liked the browser, if Mozilla were to fix that flaw I'd upgrade to that version. Does this happen on Your end Arkayn?

Nope, but I only run the 32-bit version of Nightly. The bookmarks dialog shows up just fine for me.

Well except for being able to run Civ4(needs a blank DVD disc, My CDs aren't readable in My DVD+R burner(I'd made a backup iso of the DVD version that I have which is around here somewhere, lost, probably with a music CD), at least 99% of the time), plus I need to load the pics from the camera and load the MP3s from the car CD changer, Most of My Monthly budget text file is remade from memory(saved to a flash stick, along with My bookmarks), I'm pretty much back to where I was when all this started...

275.50 is working good and will be good enough for the EVGA Classified GTX590 and a GTX460.

Another chance for all of us to review our DR philosophy. One quick option: create a second admin account as previously mentioned.

Make sure passwords are at least 10 letters & as complex & unguessable as possible.

Try not to store anything on the hard-drive. They're just for applications now. Use removable / cloud.

euh why you need a blank disk for that old game ? i play it extremely often from time to time since 5 years and never need anything in my dvd drive.

btw, question about something else, what is your motherboard chipset ?

Why a disc for such an old game? Simple I have Civ4 on CD which is almost unreadable for install purposes here and on DVD which is lost(I do have a backup of that DVD at least), the CD's don't quite follow the rules cause of copy protection.

As to the motherboard chipset, that is Intel P55, on an Asus P7P55D Pro and another on an EVGA P55 Classified 200 motherboard.

I don't think so, 275.50 seems to operate correctly like 266.58 does, You could try 266.58 or 275.50 and see if one or the other will fix Yer problem.

i already have the 266.58 in my driver /directory. was the one i was using before trying that last 296. :(

i ll retry them with clean install. and also i ll try the 275.50 too

Couldn't help but notice that you're still using initial release (403) of bios for your mobo. It never hurt to update to latest version (1302) especially when some sort of problem is present. It may not solve it, but in any case you should have some benefits.

ya i know :( i have the MAXIMUS-ASUS-Extreme-1302.ROM on my desktop since yesterday. i have an old floppy drive in a desk ... i m just waiting my friend comeback to me in a day or 2 with a floppy connector cable :S
i couldnt find any floppy connector anywhere in my house :(

i ve check all the BIOS upgrade "txt", and none are talking about this problem fix :( so i dunno. it should be written in the fix lists.

You don't need a floppy, try using ASUS Update V7.17.06 to update bios from within windows. I did that countless times without any problems. Of course the usual conditions for such procedure must be met. Another easy way to upgrade is from bios itself. These days it may be smarter not to use flopies at all, except if you just walk out of the store with brand new drive and pack of discs and even then you wont be 100% sure.
