Downloads and uploads are slow but looking at the pipe it not strange in any way.

Same issue as many many times before. Direct connection to the download servers, and the download is totally borked. Finding a good proxy, preferrably on the U.S west coast, and downloading goes like a rocket. Since i edited my hosts file to connect only to the one server i haven't had any real issues downloading. For the last day or 2 it's been a bit iffy- quite a bit slower than it has been & sometimes takes a couple of tries before it finally starts downloading. ____________ Grant Darwin NT.

Out of interest, which IP Address are you using? .13 or .18?

No - the horses get in the way, make piles, and are a bit too heavy to just lift out of the way! ;-) ____________ Happy Crunching, Graham GPUUG Officer graham@gpuug.org

Silly thing that has happenned to me got the latest installer works great and was downloaded 4 Astro pulses with a gap between each one. Of course they have gone into panic mode and running 3 of them all with dates the 22nd of April yet the one with the date of 21st April nothing just sitting there waiting its turn to be done. Different timings for the AP's one already up the other 2 around 70% at 19 hours which is about normal for me.

I've got 3 in progress, all 3 started at the same time, however all three are being processed at different speeds. Ones at 77% another is at 72% and the third is wll behind at 49%.. The fastest has been running 10:39hrs Yet to see what the final timings will be but the earliest 'should' complete in just over 3 hours, somewhat better than the boinc estimated 241 hours:-) Dunno for sure but the speed seems to be down to the WU series.. AP_26my11aa is the slowest and AP_20my11ae the fastest.. However non are running HP on my rig... Cheers, ____________ Cliff, Been there, Done that, Still no damm T shirt!

The fastest has been running 10:39hrs AP speed is heavily dependent on blanking. The more blanking the slower. Blanking will be shown in stderr after finishing. (on optimised. the stderr of stock is useless.) ____________ I'm not the Pope. I don't speak Ex Cathedra!

Stable? You can't HANDLE stable.......LOL. No - the horses get in the way, make piles, and are a bit too heavy to just lift out of the way! ;-) Stable as a brick Whats with all the random garbage about my use of the word "stable"?? Considering I have hardly had to retry a download or upload over the last 48 hours when many are still complaining, it describes what I am experiencing accurately. After 10 years of managing 400 Windows servers and 1000 pc's / laptops across asia pacific with an Executive Board that couldnt handle any downtime, the word stable (as a goal) became a regular part of my vocabulary. Can't we behave like adults here?

Can't we behave like adults here? I'm afraid 'here' is, as the thread title implies, the place to panic. Light joking comes as part of the package. Yes it happens to be also the most useful thread to look at when it comes to whether or not the servers are behaving etc. but that's probably just coincidence ;) ____________ I'm not the Pope. Can't we behave like adults here? Thats fair enough, i just fail to see whats funny about the word stable.

A small word of caution, Nortons AV has a 'super utillity' called NPE [Norton Power Examiner] if run it detets an astropluse app as dangerous, if one doesnt have a good look at what its found and just clicks on 'fix' methinks there will be a problem thereafter runnning astropulse tasks:-(

Does Norton pick up both ? [Edit:] For paranoia sakes, I just scanned both repository copies, r555 & r557 CPU builds, with http://virusscan.jotti.org , both in the clear on all 20 scanners.... dunno what that ones on about ;) Perhaps make sure nothing crept into your system & infected the AP file. If certain, it may warrant a submission to Symantecs labs. ____________ "It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. I have just submitted the r555 and r557 AP builds from the working copy used during compilation to https://www.virustotal.com/, and got 0/42 (completely clean) reports in all cases. VirusTotal did refer me to Symantec Suspicious.Insight, with a risk level 1 'Very Low' Suspicious.Insight is a detection for files that have not yet developed a strong reputation among Symantec’s community of users. Detections of this type are based on Symantec’s reputation-based security technology. In other words: this is a new file that nobody else has told them about, so they're covering their backsides just in case. Or words to that effect.
