Message 1208562 - Posted: 21 Mar 2012, 20:56:23 UTC - in response to Message 1208559.

Only 10Gig?, mines set at 100:-)

Space is the least of my worries, now its temps again:-( Got a brand new Palit GTX560 to keep my existing Palit GTX560 company and so I could put my gtx460 into rig 2..

Brilliant! The new GTX560 runs at 80c with a s@h cuda WU, the old one runs at 66C
So now I'm back to the situation I'd hoped to escape, putting an non s@h cuda task on the new gtx560:-(

Trouble is s@h just up and grabs the GPU if it happens to feel like it on the 60 min switchover.

So either I monitor the system 24/7 or I suspend s@h when I'm not able to keep and eye on things..
Looks like I just wasted £140 on a new card for nothing.

Cheers,

Only a 560, Hmm, My 590 that I just received will be in good company then. 100GB? Just for a gpu operation, doing MB only? I've yet to yank a couple of Cyclone cards and then install the 590, while moving 1 GTX460 to the x4 slot...

It is not hard to calculate, if you run only SETI MB, you need ~145 MB per GPU and four times less for each enabled CPU core. And usual stuff.

Trouble is Vince, there isnt any work, zero, zilch and non being created dispite all the servers showing as up and running:-(

And most of my existing cuda WU are shories, couple of mins or so:-(
MB Cpu are taking a better length of time since most of them are VLAR's..

Cheers,

But I dont only run s@h, I also run e@h and those files are 8Mb per WU, but as I said I have plenty of space, so I set it to 100Mb and it actually occupies a lot less for both projects.. No skin off my back, apart from a couple of small ssd's all my HDD are 1TB each. 6 in all:-)

Ok I set Mine at 120GB, which should be enough for 4 GTX590 cards per PC, more than enough, I also didn't realize that EVGA Precision was on automatic for the fan, not until I started having the cursor refuse to move, weird, fixed that too, now the fans are on manual control @ 100%. Oh and the 590 came with an EK water block too, now I may need to find 2 or 3 more blocks like that...

My message was for VWBobier, who seem runs only SETI MB last month and has ran two Milkyway tasks, which are calculated anyway. He has 600 in progress tasks at the moment, which makes his BOINC occupy at most 300 MB.
So there is some other problem, not the disk space, or disk space allocated to BOINC.

One thing I'm seeing and that I object to vlars being run on the gpu again, I've got 3 running right now that will take nearly 2 hours, I've aborted some that take 3 and 4 hours, I thought vlars were for cpus only???

There are no tasks listed for your host with a .vlar extension. Please give specific examples, a link to the WU if possible but at least task name and date it was sent. It is just possible that an old splitter which doesn't add the extension has resurfaced. It is also possible that the long run times are caused by something else.
                                                                   Joe

Never mind, If I see something that looks like it'll take a while or that has taken a while I'll post it.

Don't understand why they didn't fix this today...
Looks like db purge is not working, and now the MB splitters are doing very little.
I'm down 800 tasks in the last 12 hours, some rigs might be back to Einstein by morning.

Whenever i try for some more work all i'm getting are "Project has no tasks available" messages, for several hours now.
Yet network traffic is still maxed out?

Not only the dreaded message, but the server stats page shows nothing in the "ready to send" queue with several tapes finished splitting, and a few tapes waiting to be be split.

Looks as if we are going to have to await the Tyre Kicker In Chief to get in later today - its midnight in CA just now, so its going to be a "fun" wait...

Still no work to be had:-(
Whats up with WU creation, splitters seem to be active, but no results show for d/l.

Guess someone must be hard at work sorting out the new servers etc, still would be nice if we got a brief post saying what was happening and how long this outage is due to continue.. It only takes a couple of mins to post a message after all.

Cheers,
Cliff,

I am pretty sure that all the WUs awaiting purging are stuffing up the db, which in turn suppresses new work creation even though the splitters are online.
I suspect they shall sort it fairly soon, it's only 9:30AM in Berkeley.

Looks like purging has commenced.
And MB ready to send is building again.
Hopefully the crickets shall respond soon.

Wondering if perhaps they disabled purging to they could peruse the APv6 results being returned for analysis before they were cleared out.
But that is only a guess, could have just been a process crash.

Well, looks like the crickets have jumped back into full song. But, as is usual after any outage, pent up demand for work will keep the feeder emptied out rather quickly, so no work available messages will be the norm until some of the kibble bowls start to fill again.
