Should I upgrade because of the new version and get new installer etc Not quite yet - the new installer hasn't been released yet, and won't be until Eric tells us he's happy to open the floodgates (he hasn't said anything yet). Once everything is ready, you will need to upgrade with the new Lunatics installer, yes. But there'll be plenty of news about that on this message board when the time comes - just keep checking here every day or two. Edit - to answer the other question in your PM: there's no reason to update your version of BOINC because of this, just Lunatics.

I will not upgrade my opt installation until the release of MB V7 is included in the package too. No separate AP 6 app will be installed. Um. As things stand, you may be waiting a loooong time for that, maybe even for Godot. Now that I've officially said that, Murphy dictates that Eric is going to release MB V7 next Tuesday :D. ____________ I'm not the Pope. I don't speak Ex Cathedra!

But since you talked about Murphy, you threw him out of anything predictable and into "surprise us with whatever is least advantageous" mode. ____________ David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri.

Now you've mentioned that, Murphy is back in the process...... ____________ Happy Crunching, Graham GPUUG Officer graham@gpuug.org

One thing I'm seeing and that I object to vlars being run on the gpu again, I've got 3 running right now that will take nearly 2 hours, I've aborted some that take 3 and 4 hours, I thought vlars were for cpus only???

There are no tasks listed for your host with a .vlar extension. Please give specific examples, a link to the WU if possible but at least task name and date it was sent. It is just possible that an old splitter which doesn't add the extension has resurfaced. It is also possible that the long run times are caused by something else. Joe

One thing I'm seeing and that I object to vlars being run on the gpu again, I've got 3 running right now that will take nearly 2 hours, I've aborted some that take 3 and 4 hours, I thought vlars were for cpus only??? Well they weren't listed as vlars, they just looked like them, kind of anecdotal now as they've been reported after I aborted them... ____________ BSG Anthem My Facebook page

On one aborted one the wingman reports AR 0.84 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=951044843 you have a number of errors though that have SETI@home error -1 Can't create file -- disk full? in stderr. You may want to check the harddrive. I had a few tasks with AR 0.287 that are longrunning, but I suspect you have a different problem. ____________ I'm not the Pope. I don't speak Ex Cathedra!

I haven't gotten any notices to increase the size beyond 10GB and I did do a chkdsk /r and the disk is fine. Really? How did you manage that? If it's reading Exactly 10GB, then you must have set your preferences to 10GB plus the size of your apps, Wu's, xml's, etc, ie everything that makes up your Boinc installation. I have my Disk: use at most preference set to 10GB, the used by Boinc says 981.22MB, while the free available to Boinc us only 9.04GB (on my E8500/9800GTX+) Claggy

Only 10Gig?, mines set at 100:-) Only a 560, Hmm, My 590 that I just received will be in good company then. 100GB? Just for a gpu operation, doing MB only? I've yet to yank a couple of Cyclone cards and then install the 590, while moving 1 GTX460 to the x4 slot... ____________ BSG Anthem My Facebook page

It is not hard to calculate, if you run only SETI MB, you need ~145 MB per GPU and four times less for each enabled CPU core. And usual stuff.

But I dont only run s@h, I also run e@h and those files are 8Mb per WU, but as I said I have plenty of space, so I set it to 100Mb and it actually occupies a lot less for both projects.. No skin off my back, apart from a couple of small ssd's all my HDD are 1TB each. 6 in all:-)

Ok I set Mine at 120GB, which should be enough for 4 GTX590 cards per PC, more than enough, I also didn't realize that EVGA Precision was on automatic for the fan, not until I started having the cursor refuse to move, weird, fixed that too, now the fans are on manual control @ 100%. Oh and the 590 came with an EK water block too, now I may need to find 2 or 3 more blocks like that...

My message was for VWBobier, who seem runs only SETI MB last month and has ran two Milkyway tasks, which are calculated anyway. He has 600 in progress tasks at the moment, which makes his BOINC occupy at most 300 MB.
