I have installed the SETI software, but what next? Is there suppose to be something visiable for me to see? Can someone help with instructions as to what to do?

You appear to have attached to the project properly as indicated by
your account.

I don't see any task assigned to you yet. This may just be due to network congestion. The Boinc software seems to be doing its job as it did try to contact the servers a little over an hour ago. A little patience may be required.

I am also having problems seeing anything on my desktop. I've installed the software and added SETI@home as a task; now I'm lost. Please advise.

Thanks!

You have two tasks in progress, as you can see here

You also aborted some other tasks, which shouldn't have been necessary. The "in progress" tasks will finish, be reported, and credit will be issued when a second user submits their results for the same workunit.

You have two workunits assigned, as you can see here .
They may still be downloading (they are large files), but once they finish downloading, they will begin running, and you'll be good to go. In the meantime, do nothing.

I too am having some problems..... I loaded up both BOINC, AND SETI@HOME, they both appeared to have downloaded properly, but still I see nothing working. No projects/tasks at all. I loaded these up about a month ago and have been in here checking at least daily with no projects working.
Is there something more I need to do to get on board???

Well, you only have the ability to process one unit at a time. I see you have a second project as well, so it may be that BOINC is getting work from that project and not from S@H. You did process one workunit earlier, it validated and credit was issued. If you want to run S@H primarily, reduce the load share of your second project, or set it to no new tasks.

Hello,

I've started downloading S@H last night (about 19hrs ago) and it claims to be running. I get the screen saver but time running and date do not correlate to what I'm seeing on my bionc data. I've observed at least to projects/ files complete (I think) but I haven't even got an indication that the program has completed installing. How do I know it is actually running properly AND what the credits and what use are they? What should I be expecting to see and do as a volunteer to this program? Also is there someplace I'm supposed to go to see data OR is this simply install and forget that is accompanied by a pretty screensaver that has no intended relevance to me understanding it or not? Eitherway I'm fine, I'm just confused and would like clarification.

Thank you in advance
Mike

Install and forget. It is possible, but not required, to understand what the screen saver is telling you.

There are processes at the server that:
1) Compare your result with at least one result from the same data. If the first two do not match (or one is not reported by the deadline) another task is sent.
2) Compare results from the same area of the sky on different nights to see if there is any pattern.

We can see a little information about other peoples accounts, but not that much.

I can tell that you have installed BOINC on one computer and that you have 4 tasks downloaded. This means that you have successfully done everything that you need to do to get started.

You can see some information about the tasks that are currently running by looking at BOINC Manager on your client. There are two possible views on what is happening - Simple View and Advanced View.

If you get enough credits you get the chance to be entered into the random draw for the ever elusive S@H toaster.

As yet nobody has won the toaster...
