Man, what a muppet! Whatever happened to statesmanship? Don't politicians know by now that the media will always be all over public figures? Or haven't they got the kudos to hold a brave face? Cash for Access 1st term looking a bit shakey....... |

Fully aware of that fact but I did give a clue in my post..... "Or haven't they got the kudos to hold a brave face?" All that was really needed to make that photo go viral is a baby's dummy! |

Your choice of avatar confirms your dislike of parliament and politicians, but luckily for you, his fate would not befall you in the 21st Century. :-) NEVER, ever take the book by it's cover |

Never said you did. However, News Corp comes to mind. Within the past 50 years, just how many "influencial" lobbyists had their "hands on the tiller" so to speak? Just how much tax evasion/avoidance did they manipulate. We know that there are indeed, many good hard working MP's in & out of government but it is all going to waste for the simple fact is..... ...the system itself is corrupted! |

Sorry Chris, I'm not up to date as I think, I wasn't aware of that fact, so thanks. |

Right, bring back the good old days under Labor -- no taxes at all then.... Oh wait.

Yeah quite true. However, labour did know NOT to tax food so what with the pending tanker driver srike, lorry drivers should be up in arms about our pasties :) |

Yeah quite true. 2003 Labour considered taxing fatty foods on health reasons but found an excuse not to carry it out... .... But a super tax on fatty foods would be perceived as a regressive tax because people on lower incomes tend to eat proportionally larger quantities of cheap, high-fat food.... ....said the Labour party spokesman. All this came about due to a Health study carried out at that time. This study found that poorer families suffered from poorer health later in life due to their poor quality diets. So what did the government of that time do.....absolutely nothing just swept it under the carpet. They chose not to make fatty foods more expensive than good quality foods thereby forcing people to improve on their diets. Staple good quality food is not expensive, vegetables and some meat like chicken is not expensive and well within the budget of even that fraternity who live off state handouts. The class of people who tend to fall into the poor category are there so because of poor educational level and I suspect dam ignorance too and just cant be bothered to see that they and their children eat healthily. To the Labour party at that time then it was better to do nothing rather than hurt a big source of their votes. But looking at it from another angle you could say that the Labour party cares dam little about the health of those who vote for them just as long as they continue to vote for the party. Well, that's politics for you and pretty dam awful, I must say, well you get what you vote for in the end and that's "politics" with very little worthwhile action thrown in. Has government got any better since 2003? not at all. They and the opposition spent most of one day this week bashing it off over the application of a tax on hot pasties. Never mind the fact that the south runs a severe risk of drought this coming summer. No time spent here discussing a new plan to build reservoirs up north and pump the water down south...as was suggested, many years ago, needed to be done. That's called planning for the future, "Manana-procrastination" the motto that should be affixed to the top of most political parties manifesto's followed by, "Nihil facimus hodie"..= today we do nothing. In 2006, the Environment Agency returned to the question. Pumping water down from the northern Pennines to London could be done, it agreed, but it would cost between five and eight times more than developing the water system in and around the south-east. Ah Chris, now we truly know what HST2 is really all about. A fast train enabling the Southerners to go up North to collect their own water and bring it back down to home themselves. Maybe Cameron and Obama are having surprisingly similar fate that cleaning up the worst mess that being accumulated by their predecessors. Both Bush and his puudel Blair are one of the worst kinds of war criminals that have nearly 1 million human kills in their presidency records plus ruining of their domestic economy beyond any comprehension. So poor next electees are partially carrying the blame and cleaning up the worst mess around. I'd say the last falls civil war like rising and burnings in London was actually that dark politics cancer tumor exploded in uk after few years of its initiation. Which its mirror cancer tumor is in usa that called Occupy rising or actual reflection of the tumor in another words. Mandtugai! |

Well if he wants a second term in office, he'd better make sure that he has cabinet ministers that have common sense & not a bloated egotisical image of themselves.... Pressure on Maude to resign |

Don't blame the Government for something they foolishly say. Blame all the short sighted idiots that went and jammed up the fuel stations and caused the panic. It's about time people took responsibility for them selves and their individual and collective actions. They will be blaming the woman who set herself on fire when she decanted petrol from one open container to another next to a running gas cooker. I am sorry she suffered 40% burns, but no knowledge of the volatility of petrol is no defence in life and it's consequences. It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

Of course the government are at fault. They want us back to this...... Serfs, so that they can sit back with their fat King Edward's after their caviar & chips luncheon, followed by coffee in the "Grand Room". |
