Hi,

short question, How are credits calculated. Currently i have 4 computers running seti. With these i can reach an average credit around 6000.
But if you look into th top 20 of the seti statistic you can find persons archiving around 60000 average credit with just one computer running on an single AMD processor.
Or check this one: http://www.allprojectstats.com/showuser.php?projekt=15&id=101662 Also showing just 1 standard PC.
Is there a way to configure boinc to alow the computer to finish 10 times + more work units as it would be with the standard configuration?
Thank you

a single AMD chip but most likely 3-6 nVIdia GPU's which can run 3-4 WU's at a time per GPU.

Stick in a couple of ATI or NVIDIA (or both) GPUs and you'll see your RAC skyrocket. That's how people with a single computer, and only running this project, can reach those high RACs.

Also wise to add the Lunatics optimized applications, they run that much faster than the stock ones. That is, until this project releases the optimized apps as stock, which they may now be doing (Seti v.7).

Thank you for your replies.
One of MY computers (not running 24\7 is an 2.93 K7 intel. This can runn 8 WUs at the same time. The WUs are finished in around 5 hours. My GTX570 can run only one WU at a time but is able to finish a WU in 5 to 6 minutes. This computer reached an average credit of arund 1800. I will try to let this one running for a longer time period just to see what the average can be.

Thank you

if you ran the optimized apps you could run about 50% faster on the CPU and get 3-4 running at 1 time by changing the <count>1</count> to <count>0.33</count>

The one warning about the optimized apps is that they are not self updating. You have to keep up with any updates to these yourself.

As in the new astropulse WU's that cannot be currently ran on the Lunatics apps.

If you choose to use make sure you stick around here or at the Lunatics site for updates on the apps
