Rumours within the industry ATM rating yields at low - poor on wafers production. that's the rumour that I have read as well ... but they are coming and I am interested in seeing their performance ... as I suspect are many others ... ____________

Pennies are not accumulating here very rapidly as of late... lets hope they cards stay in very short supply for a while as we wouldn't want that 100m gap between us to disappear to quick would we ... :)) ____________

There are two things propagating this rumour: -The new 680 will have 1536 shader units (TBC) -The Samaritan Demo So even though that's 3x the shaders ("Cuda cores") compared to a 580, those cores are smaller/weaker. That's the first place people are coming up with"3x" Also the Samaritan Demo used 3x580 last year, while this year just one Kepler card (presumably 680). That's the second place people are coming up with "3x" So the new GK104 won't triple your FPS, but there is good news for crunchers. 680 could be up to 80% better at GFLOPs for a few less watts than the 580. That means 2x science per watt! All speculation obviously... we'll know for sure in (less than?) a couple of weeks:)

And please bear in mind, that until somebody has a Kepler running here, we won't know if any of the apps are compatible...

Is that `only` a pair of six pin power sockets i see on the 680, The 680 seems to only be spec'd at 195w. So a single 8-pin connector would do. I wonder why they opted for two 6-pin. As either way it is still 150w of additional power. ____________ SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the BP6/VP6 User Group today!

The prices of these GPUs are going to be outrageous. Well then the that should force down the prices of the older ones a bit, maybe. ____________ BSG Anthem My Facebook page
