Message 1202756 - Posted: 5 Mar 2012, 22:21:23 UTC - in response to Message 1202752.

No change in the applications installed on the server. No change in the choices available on the preferences pages. My successful report was on the same venue as the ISE failures.

Any word on the numbers of tasks you're failing to, or succeeding in, reporting?

I think I see it now. MB and MB CUDA can be reported, but AP tasks gets the "Internal server error". All of my hosts that could report, had only CUDA to report, the one with only AP to report can't do it.

Doesn't work for me. I'm only reporting MB CUDA.

Well, there went that theory down the drain....

LOL

Gurgle, gurgle... ;)

Whatever the problem is, it isn't much of a life in the cricket either. It's almost at the bottom.

You spoke? It changed.

HomePC was trying to report 47: I changed to
<max_tasks_reported>1</max_tasks_reported>
and the request completed and I get 20 resends.
Next request the same thing; upped to 10 tasks, "HTTP internal server error"...
Dropped to 5 tasks, successful.

I just set

<max_tasks_reported>10</max_tasks_reported>

on each of the three machines getting 'internal server error', and they all reported their 10 at the first attempt. Either it's the number, or they just fixed something on the server....

Main work server can't report 183 tasks. Unfortunately the libcurl version that Scientific Linux CERN 5 uses is too old to build 6.12 BOINC so I can't use the max_tasks trick. There's a way around it that I used last week (our LHC analysis environment uses more recent software) but I'm not going to try to do that from home.

Well, I only have 6 to report, and that still doesn't work.

My i7-2600K/GTX460/HD5770 only has 29 tasks to reports, they are split equally between NV AP and CPU MB, it fails each time with 'Scheduler request failed: HTTP internal server error' too,

My other hosts which only had MB to report, reported O.K

I, too, cannot report 100 MB tasks on the fastest computer.
Others have reported normally. This is an outrage. :@

NNT, even reporting one task at a time doesn't help and "last contact" timestamp doesn't update.

I see others are using the app_info settings to lower the max asks reported to be ale to report tasks in small batches but I dont currently hve an app_info as i havent had the need.

Could sommeone help me put together an app_info file with the minimum details required so i can try the max tasks setting as thats really all i would want in the app_info as i dont need it for anything else and i have an increasing number of tasks to report.

It is cc_config.xml and it doesn't help.

That's a cc_config.xml you require, not an app_info.xml, this is the contents of the cc_config.xml you require (Boinc 6.12.x or later required):

<cc_config>
<options>
<max_tasks_reported>10</max_tasks_reported>
</options>
</cc_config>

Make the file with Notepad, drop it in your Boinc Data directory, and do a read config file.

Edit: removed the typo. (Didn't help that i was posting on the laptop and it's got a big crack across the screen)

Thanks, I saw it may have been working for others but I confirm it makes no difference as i still get thwe HTTP internal server error.

My two PC's with a low number of tasks all reported OK and have no pending tasks but my two main crunchers with over 80/100 tasks are all unable to report so i thought it worth a try.

normal that <cc_config> isnt written as same as </cc_config.xml> ?

Hic. If in doubt, check the documentation. It's:

<cc_config>
...
</cc_config>

Yes, they should always match.

Actually, i did get an error using "5" tasks in cc_config at first but I am now reporting all tasks successfully in batches of 5 and will soon be upto date :)

i know this why i said that ^^

anyways, i found that in an old post
The 500 Internal Server Error is a "server-side" error, meaning the problem is not with your PC or Internet connection but instead is a problem with the SETI site's server.

Lovely, not another dreaded 500 error, oh the horror. I guess We have to wait for the Mad Scientists to fix the problem again, eh Egor? ;)

Yes, it's a server error.

But sometimes, it's possible for your computer to send the server a message which causes it to choke. Once, we had a problem where all optimised application users got the server error, but people using the stock applications didn't. So, it's possible that you can sometimes work round a server error, as I seemed to earlier this evening by reporting completed tasks in smaller batches.

But yes, in the long term, we have to wait for the Mad Scientists to fix it once and for all.

Until the next time.....

<cc_config>
<options>
<max_tasks_reported>10</max_tasks_reported>
</options>
</cc_config>

In cc_config.xml file in Boinc data folder.

Works for me using Boinc V6.12.41. Reporting 10 at a time.
