I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on this problem! I have an 512mb Nvidia 9600GT OC graphics card which is CUDA rated and has previously done some crunching but now I do not seem to be getting any data processed by the GPU. I have checked my SETI@Home settings and they are all set to use the GPU all the time. I have also been through the NVidia control panel and enabled access for BOINC in every guise to have access to CUDA. I am still getting no data processed. I have re-installed BOINC in case of any errors. I am having no problems with the graphics card in any way and all games tested on it work to the highest detail I can without any slowdown or crashing. Any ideas as I am close to binning the card for a new one! Incidentally my second PC that also runs SETI@Home has just died and gone to heaven and that was a lowly 512mb 8400GT which did use it's graphics processor!! I am getting pretty annoyed now please help! |

Please post the initial BOINC startup messages from the message tab (if you're using BOINC v6.10 or earlier) or event log (v6.12 or later). |

You're running an old CPU MB app: Windows optimized S@H Enhanced application by Alex Kan Have you installed a Cuda app? I suspect not, download the latest Lunstics 0.39 Installer, and install the latest apps, Note: your Core 2 Dual Quad can ran the SSSE3x app, it'll be a lot faster than the plain SSEx app. Edit: and your host doesn't have an 'SETI@home Enhanced (anonymous platform, nvidia GPU)' entry on it's Application details page Claggy |

The problem I see right now is that you don't have any tasks on your machine assigned to the GPU. If you don't have the work there is nothing for the GPU to do. As you are running the lunatics opt apps did you check the box to include the GPU? Is your machine requesting work for the GPU? Which will look something like this: "3/4/2012 9:51:39 AM SETI@home Requesting new tasks for CPU & NVIDIA GPU" SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

There has been no request to assign work and when I installed the Lunatics app I selected the enable GPU access also where would I assign the work? I will download the new Lunatics and try that to see if it cures it! Also how do I get to assign an entry on the application page as you suggest Claggy? Sorry still a newbie at this even though I have been with SETI@home since 1999. :) Also which version of the Astropulse app should I get? Also which Multibeam setting do you recommend for my system? |

When you run the Installer, select the SSSE3 (Intel) app and the Multibeam Cuda x41g app (leave the Astropulse 5.05r409 app selected), You'll get that entry on the host details page once you're received Nvidia Cuda MB work via annoymous platform, The other thing to check is that you're got 'Use NVIDIA GPU' yes selected in your project preferences. Thanks Claggy! I am now updating the Nvidia driver and I have already downloaded the new Lunatics app. I have the setting to use the NVidia GPU already set, so hopefully this will cure the problem! otherwise I'll be back :) Oh do you recommend also downloading the Astropulse for windows app? Don't run the 295.xx drivers, if you're got your GPU connected via the DVI port, once the Monitor goes to sleep the Cuda device becomes unavailable and Wu's error out, 290.53 and earlier drivers work correctly. Just run the r409 CPU Astropulse app from the Installer, I wouldn't bother running the Beta Nvidia OpenCL app, it isn't threadsafe for use with 270.xx and later drivers, and still uses 100% CPU. Ok, I have just made the mistake of letting Nvidia update my driver automatically lol I will search out the other drivers manually, I also think you may have hit the nail on the head as I have been running my monitor through DVI!! I will let you know what happens when I go back to VGA!! Regards |

I will let you know what happens when I go back to VGA!! You should be able to run the 295.xx drivers through the DVI port, you just have to set your Monitor to never go to sleep, and physically turn it off yourself (your mileage may vary) Edit: You're getting Nvidia GPU tasks now. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I now have a multitude of GPU work units finally!!! I downgraded to 285 Nvidia driver just to be safe! I am still using the DVI as my monitor has never been set to use suspend so that's not a problem. I can now do more work units thanks to you. Well done sir! |
