Normally I would assume this would be a good message. But, I'm new to all this. I signed up a week or so ago and everything has been going well - for the most part. That learning curve being accepted.

Then yesterday my computer stopped processing them and was showing the following message in Boinc Manager under 'Tasks" and then under 'Process Status': "Suspended - Computer is not in use".

I have no idea what caused this to happen. I have tinkered about in preferences and reinstalled Boinc twice. Sometimes it starts processing and then stops. I know I have a heat problem - my power supplies fan has stopped working and should receive a replacement tomorrow, but have been able to work around this for the most part. I don't think my problem is really related to heat, however I may be wrong on this.

My next step will be to do a complete uninstall and restart the Boinc experience from scratch. Before I do that though, I am hoping for some ideas from those with more experience in these matters.

That one is caused by the "Suspend work if no mouse/keyboard activity in last X minutes" preference. Set it to zero or ---.

Thanks -- I'll give that a look and see again -- I did see that this morning and adjusted it. Worth another look though.

I just checked my desktop which is the one running Boinc and found Boinc has been running for 2 hours -- just about the time I was writing my request for help on my laptop. Go figure! The mouse thing was one of the last things I had changed I think, and had shut it down and rebooted. I needed to get away from it for a while. Things aways look better after a breather ~~~ !

Two hours of running is good -- God, I hate computers sometimes!!!

OK, it's probably easier if you just posted the actual files that store these entries, so we can check those. Go to your BOINC Data directory (which you can see in your start-up messages, somewhere at the top of the log) and check for the global_prefs.xml file and if it exists the global_prefs_override.xml file. When you do have both, please do tell.

Now just open it, copy its contents and post them here. If you have both, post the contents of both, please.
