Sirius, can you loan me some back copies of the Mail, please...

Love to, but as my copies are in pristine condition, not sure you'd get them as our Mailmen can read but can't understand numbers.

Actually this is a long standing in-joke amongst my circle, where for many years they've poked fun at me for being a self-confessed Mail reader. I recently gave up reading it as I think it's gone down hill drastically in recent times. So I've transferred the honour to Sirius :-)) I'll admit their website is pretty good though.

Oooh, no thanks. The only paper I purchase is the Times & Financial Times, the rest I read online.

I plumb for the Telegraph mainly but on occasions do buy the Times. The
Telegraph seemed to be the paper most favoured by my contemporaries when
I first joined the engineering fraternity. Years ago, during a quiet working
period, you could snuggle-down and bury yourself in the Telegraph for the
afternoon....but not anymore... something's gone in relation to our newspapers.

Correct Nick. The quality of the newsprint paper used is pretty naff these days, and combined with smudgy ink that gives you stained fingers, our tramps can't get a decent nights sleep these days. Quite outrageous.

Chris, outrageous to the extreme, I'd say....

Another ticketing issue. Just who are the tickets going to?

Nice post & overall. I agree. However, with the state of our "lost" school playing fields, most athletes have to find suitable training areas & attempt to secure sponorship. Those that don't have families that support them throughout their training & should be allowed access to tickets as their reward.

They are not asking for freebies but genuine access to tickets to see their family members succeed in their ambitions.

Don't forget, all this corporate sponsorship is no good without the attendance of the sportsmen participating in the relevant sports.

There other Home Office,MI5, and GCHQ comms systems that will also be used. But yes on the face of it, it is worrying. but the good news is that the police have rejected putting a replacement system out to private contractors.

Another depressing report.....with less than 100 days to go....I'm just hoping that all these cock-ups are solved before the opening ceremony.

Our politicians are constantly reminding us that "we are all in this together" OH REALLY?

Then stop attempting uponemanship with each other & do the bloody job you're paid to do!

I know, the Daily Rag again, but if true, just what the hell are they trying to do? Show us up as a 5th world country?

It's what comes from having people in high places who don't really care about the
UK as a whole but care just only about themselves. When will the populations of
the UK wake up to all this and start to vote for real change.

Now that is the best sentiment I've ever read about this once great nation. Well done Nick.

The UK has such great potential but unfortunately this potential is being managed
by the wrong people. Legislation has been allowed to expand it's influence over
so much that the UK can no longer breath in the way that it used to. Why is
Europe and the ECM failing, because it is in the hands of and run by legislators.
He who jumps early from the sinking ECM will find an empty seat in the waiting
lifeboat. Leave it too long and you may well find that the lifeboat has slowly drifted away.
Let the band play on and lets see if the fiddles can keep the fiddlers afloat.

Yes & I'm sure you posted this earlier...

but I'm pretty sure the fiddlers will find some other violin to play!

Now that is an excellent point. However, if 2 central countries actually left, the EU is dead, & any laws introduced by the remainder will be totally ineffective.

You would be about right. If Teacosy and the Mekon walked out, the EU as we know it today would be a dead duck. However that is not very likely to happen. Although if the current polls are correct and Teacosy loses his re-election bid, it will be interesting to see Frances future stance towards the EU.

That really would put the cat amongst the pidgeons! The mainstay of the EU over the last decade or so has always been France & Germany. With France out, I do not think that Germany will continue to stay in.

Even now, the German people are fed up at having to bail out the rest of Europe..As you say, interesting days ahead.....

Olympics Logistics Test

How.....

It can be called "Beach Volleyball" in Horse Guards Parade?

Last time I was there, I couldn't see any beach in the centre of London.
