I had a thought earlier today whilst waiting for a bus.
The notion of being kind to trees to be 'green' has a fundamental flaw. Trees, being photosynthesising organisms, like carbon dioxide. So reducing emissions is not in their favour.
Add to that, trees over the course of their lifetime use more oxygen than they produce, so off setting carbon emissions by planting trees is the wrong way to go about it. Most of the oxygen (over 70%) comes from algae in rivers and seas. Algae, like all plants, need a source of nitrates to grow. The richest source of nitrates humans produce is urea. So if one really wants to offset carbon emissions, the best way is by peeing into the nearest stream.
But you won't see any greenpeace posters advocating that!

It's like rain on your wedding day.
Only if your fiancée works for the met office and they chose the date!

Sorry about this, they played Alanis Morisette's aural torture Ironic on the radio earlier and it's been bugging me!

I listened to her albums last Saturday.

I'm still trying to remove the songs from my head :)

I've always found National Express by the Divine Comedy to be the best cure, as it displaces any other song.

Mighty quiet in here.
Know it isn't the same with Sir John in hospital, but c'mon, guys and gals.
Got to make sure the place is still here and fit for his return.

Long as I'm here, I think I'll have a pint of red ale, please, innkeeper.
Thanks much.

Things are bit on hold here, because John' also a final approval of the Lady's Loo plans is a bit out of commision.
Chris, Rob etc where the proofs send along?

Somewhere or other there is a rule that states if, in the absence (enforced or otherwise) of the duty holder (in this case Sir John) an emergency resolution can be passed provided it is approved by the majority of the other duty holders, plus the non-duty holder members of the committee.

Uli, May we assume that we may take your comment as a request for such a motion to be put to the committee so we don't have an embarrassing situation arise as a result of the impending refurbishment?

As an ordinary member plus a member of the garden weeding party I vote in favour
of this resolution to put this motion to the committee.

It would be nice to have all the refurbishings done, so we can a whale of a party when John returns.

Thanks for the help with the weeding Nick. Now need to start planting.
