I think the goal this summer should be $8/gallon.

If the Israelis have their way, we may just get there.

No need, that would be a control thing, just have the price ride up to the point where people who can afford it buy it. Call it health care <g>

A bizarre thought hit me today, and I do not wish to be offensive here, but let's think about this: is supporting Israel close to supporting a civil war? What does genetics, tracing back 3500-4000 years have to say about this?

As far as I know, that's correct, so as I said, it's much like a civil war, and we know the U.S. does not get involved in civil wars, right?

The Iranians and Afghans are not semites, nor are the Egyptians, as for the rest out there -- probably so.

None of the wars the US gets involved in are civil. Increasingly none of the domestic politics we engage in here are civil either.

Gosh, what we don't need is discussing this like "Obama's Second Term" is a given. God save us, it is NOT.

Unfortunately unless the republican convention is brokered it is a given. The candidates have so damaged themselves trying to out right each other they have lost most of their own party. I truly wish there was a none of the above on my ballot.

Is it really trying to "out right" each other ? Most people I know with a conservative viewpoint are quite rational people. The 3 leading Republican candidates look like they are just trying to out Wingnut each other.

They are so bad that the satirical comedy shows gone to straight reporting because the reality is sillier than anything the script writers can come up with. Watching Fox News is like seeing an extended version of "The Daily Show" but without the humour.

How many Americans really take this shit seriously ? In any other country they would have been driven from the stage months ago. Don't these clowns realise what they are doing to America's image in the eyes of the rest of the world ?

Far too many Americans take it seriously. I agree they should be run out of town tared and feathered. But they are preachers. They preach to their flock. The want the state to be the church. No different than Sharia in a Muslim land. It appeals to a backwards sort, those who refuse to think for themselves. To me, and you know how many times I'm called a right wing nut here, they look like they are the head of the Westboro Baptist Church!

So, why do you think more people believe *Fauxnews* (as you call it)?

Gosh, look at the numbers for what they are, entertainment. No one believes an iota of it, they just watch it to see how big an idiot they can make of themselves, like the rusty lint ball.

It is a fair question. Part of it is that Faux makes it a lot easier to understand things (as Faux sees it) as they pander to a everything is black and white crowd. Simple approaches work best for less sophisticated people and we have a LOT of less sophisticated people in this country.

I would have hoped that this message board would tend to filter out the double digit crowd. If it did (and sometimes it seems to) then the discussions/arguments we get into are not based on 'non-facts' but rather interpretations of actual data (which can vary greatly). Faux filters information, eliminating 'inconvenient truths' very effectively.

Maddow plays to a different intellectual crowd (which makes sense given her Stanford degree and Oxford PhD).

Of course I could say, I didn't vote in that poll, therefore the numbers are irrelevant. But that might be fauxlike <smile>.
