If it were not for the crazy bandwidth usage shown by the Cricket graphs, I might wonder whether last week's 'rolling outage' had left some disc space not compressed leading to space filling up and causing the splitters to languish.

euh not first time i hear about the bandwidth.... where i can see that thing ?

Note that on this graph, 'in' and 'out' are reversed. Green is 'in' to the router, but represents data going out of the servers.

Just had an AP download, it took 18 seconds.

13/02/2012 17:06:52 SETI@home Started download of ap_11oc11af_B1_P1_00054_20120213_32079.wu
13/02/2012 17:07:10 SETI@home Finished download of ap_11oc11af_B1_P1_00054_20120213_32079.wu

Looks like the pipe may not be as busy as Cricket is reporting.

Looks like the traffic in is decreasing, must be clients running out of work to report. But traffic out is still maxed. Someone at the lab must have a really great ratio at his torrent tracker. :)

It looks as though tape 07oc11af has stalled - I wonder if that's the root of today's problems...

ya this tape is there since yesterday lol

Moreover, all tapes splitted after this 07oc11af, all of them were finished as error in MB case, but splitted successfully for AP... The great trouble's there!

The chicken or the egg...

Did my i7 just decide based on resource shares (Seti 120, Einstein 20, Orbit 60 but never has any work) that it was time to do some more Einstein and let the Setis on hand dwindle, or did it get the Einsteins because the Setis were dwindling. Just a few days ago, it was within 3 units of its limit and now it's down by nearly a quarter.

Meanwhile, I'm pondering what the heck one of my other machines thought it was doing last night. Every time I venture to the basement to do laundry, I stay down until I put my clothes in the dryer (the knees ain't what they used to be) and check on all three crunchers to see how Boinc is doing, whether they need any Windoze updates, etc. One of them was sitting on 2 Einsteins that were past deadline, but it was running a Seti with over a week to go. One of them was showing 100% progress but not actually complete! I put Einstein on NNT, then suspended Seti, and damned if it didn't start working on the unit that was only 98% done. So I suspended that task and it finished the 100% and reported it, and I unsuspended the 98%er. Oh, now it's gonna run high priority. By then the washer was done, so I decided to remote in in a few minutes to unsuspend Seti (and forgot until morning). Of course both units had been sent to 3rd parties by then, so if they also read this forum, my apologies to them.

GTX460 on my top cruncher just run dry even after rescheduling all nonVLAR/AP from CPU to GPU. Oh well its Einstein a go go for now. Hope SETI gets more work soon, I would rather find an intelligent ET than a dumb pulsar.

Mine are running about 85% full of their limit on the faster machine and the slower ones and full up. Though I have only got about 120 new tasks so far today, across 30 boxes. Since I return about 1200 a day I see empty machines in my future.

Good one. I like that.

I have three of them GTX 460's. No tasks.
Is it true that some people actually play games with these things?

What a waste of crunching time. Lordy, some people huh.......

On a more serious note, looks like we are all going have to put up with this until the Outage. Darn, I was just aiming for 70k RAC for my new setup. Oh well, Mammaries Dorsal again. ;-)

Looks like my three fastest GPUs are out of work now. I've not got them all up to fully static result levels yet. :-/

Just when I switched to the Lunatics app and have been watching my RAC to see where it would go, There is no more GPU work. Can anyone explain what is maxing out the crickets when there are no WUs being sent out?

More like, no WUs being allocated -- there may well be a backlog of WUs that are still being downloaded, for reasons such as excessive BOINC backoff after a download failure. It is strange that it's gone on so long this time, though.

Seems like that would be an excellent statistic to keep track of, Work Units
allocated but not yet downloaded.

to help get the utilities to increase our pipe width.
