Never mind the issue of flags, it may not happen anyway.

Since when has a modern day politician told the truth or did what's right for the country!

Boxed above our weight in science and engineering for many a long year.
Plenty of scientific discoveries made yet to be disclosed though, ask the Yanks
about the "******* fighter"?? It might have been to others but it wasn't to us.
Didn't take us long to come up with a method to detect it but we failed to inform
the Yanks and when they found out they got a little upset. Yes, as pals, we should
have told them immediately.

Oh, so you won't be standing for office in the newly formed Republic of the Isle of Wight then?

Since when does an independent Scotland mean the destruction of science, or the English scientific heritage? Will Newton or Darwin's scientific contribution be any less when the UK will no longer include Scotland?

I assume that means the answer is yes. In which case, wow.

I will happily agree with the sentiment expressed, that this issue is too important to be left to politicians on their own, but I have reservations. Yes of course there should be a good public turnout, they are voting for their country's whole future for heavens sake. This isn't just another General(yawn...)Election we are talking about. But how many of the Scottish electorate are going to be that really clued up about all the pros and cons of the issue? Will they vote according to the Media's suggestion or Westminster's wishes, or search their souls and do what really really is best for them in the long run. The average election turnout is 60%, this deserves to be considerably higher.

Politicians are elected by the people for the people, partly because because it's collective representation, and also because they are supposed to be able to look at the wider picture, and may have access to relevant information not yet in the public domain. Everyone needs to play their full part. I still worry that they may go independent for the wrong reasons. Wanna make a guess who might have to pick up the pieces if they get it wrong?

David Cameron has again refused to take part in a televised debate with Alex Salmond ahead of the referendum on Scottish independence. He added: "This is not a debate between me and him. It is not a debate between the prime minister of the United Kingdom and the first minister of Scotland. "The debate should be between people in Scotland who want to stay, and people in Scotland who want to go.

Fair comment, but with reservations previously expressed.

He can only hide from this for so long. Eventually he is going to be dragged into the television studio”

Alex Salmond Scottish first minister

Excuse me sunshine, just who are you to dictate to the PM? Come down south of the borders and we will soon tell you your fortune laddie.

Voters in Scotland will be asked the straight yes/no question: "Should Scotland be an independent country?" when the referendum is held on 18 September.

They've even loaded the question as with a devolved Parliamnet at Holyrood, most people think Scotland is an independent country anyway. If the question was "Should Scotland withdraw from the UK?" it would be quite a different matter. If Scotland wants Salmond they are quite welcome to him, we certainly don't. He also isn't the brightest spark with a "Desmond" for his joint MA.

DB Schenker Rail (UK), before 2009 known as English, Welsh and Scottish Railway (EWS), is a British rail freight company headquartered in Doncaster, England.

EWS as was, deals in freight not passengers.

Still preaching to the choir I see. With Scotland being independent, I couldn't very well put EWR & NI now can I? not unless they built a tunnel to NI :)
