You might not agree with them politically, but there is no need to be rude about it.

Politics has nothing to do with it. Peaceniks want the freedom to do what they like, constantly forgetting that the freedom they have was paid for.

Didn't realise that there were any CND dinosaurs left.... Well, the loss of jobs is actually nearer 14,000 when peripherals are taken into consideration. To me, since the situation of independence for Scotland will always be an issue, even after a vote of NO, should in my mind give the UK government all the reasons necessary to move this installation elsewhere. To Wales would be fine since they could do with a boost to jobs by 14,000. ____________ The Kite Fliers -------------------- Kite fliers: An imaginary club of solo members, those who don't yet belong to a formal team so "fly their own kites" - as the saying goes.

Not move back to, but move to Hev ... John, I am part of the Scottish diaspora, I was born in Edinburgh.

Not move back to, but move to Hev ... Born in Darjeeling, but still a Cornish East Coast Scot. Went to school at Johnshaven, between Aberdeen and Montrose. Can I vote? ____________ It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues

Not move back to, but move to Hev ... We can both vote in the referendum if we move back to Scotland and are living there, but then so can anyone living in Scotland at the time. I did check to see if I could vote from afar. Does being born in Darjeeling give you another nationality? You can never have too many passports as far as I'm concerned.

Ah that's 2 numpty's gone...... Well, my earlier post say much about this.. Now Salmon wants the SNP to overturn it's traditional anti-Nato stance... Seems like two MSP's agreed with me too, here. They must be reading our threads up there in Scotland? ____________ The Kite Fliers -------------------- Kite fliers: An imaginary club of solo members, those who don't yet belong to a formal team so "fly their own kites" - as the saying goes.

I don't see what they would gain by being "independent" It's still one relatively small island containing three states (sort of). Would Scotland form it's own Army, Navy and Air Force? Would it go out and seek alliances and form treaties with other nations? Would they close their borders with England and require Visas and passports? Would they increase taxes on their citizens to pay for having their own independent government? To me Scotland is to Great Britain as Puerto Rico is to the United States in some ways. Puerto Rico gets the benefit of protection from the USA but they are virtually an independent nation. Scotland is regarded world wide as an entity unto itself culturaly but has the benefit of the security afforded by being part of the United Kingdom. An independent Scotland would only benefit those who manage to become the leaders and no one else.

That's a good post Bob and essentially correct. What the Scottish National Party basically wants is 100% home rule, but more in a political sense than anything else. Border posts and passports, and separate armed forces are just not practical. Scottish activists have been banging on about this for decades.

I think that's their objective, more devolved power ...

I think that's their objective, more devolved power ... Most probably is their reason too. Yet to be given more powers, above and beyond those of Northern Ireland, Wales and England, should mean that Scotland should have less say in these other countries affairs. If not, Scotland could end up in a position of autonomy to such an extent that it could become the ruling country of the whole of the UK if it's powers at Westminster are not appropriately curbed....food for thought. ____________ The Kite Fliers -------------------- Kite fliers: An imaginary club of solo members, those who don't yet belong to a formal team so "fly their own kites" - as the saying goes.

Alex if this commences, you're on your own as it is in ENGLAND, so we won't need your North Sea Gas!

North Sea Oil and the reference is......? ____________

You really are being contrary this weekend. That was some background for others not of UK origin, to understand why Scotland considers North Sea oil and gas to be theirs. Seti is an International Forum, not a personal UK playground.
