all I needed to do was loginto it and change its email addy to my current one.. Same really with the other one..

That's not possible. Since the email address is the 'primary key', two different accounts can't have the same address.

Hi,

Then I guess the solution is to either delete the old a/c's or just ignore them:-)

It's the latter, since accounts can't be deleted either. ;-)

Trouble is I have no idea what the password is for either Gianarth or Cliff on that email addy..

password, password, password - who said you need a password?
And what is meaning of "email addy" you use in every post?

The sole purpose of old classic account is to be merged with new BOINC account (so you can be shown as 'Joined' earlier)

Read again "The only option is: ..." in Message 1190389

all I needed to do was login to it and change its email addy to my current one.. Same really with the other one..

Even if that was possible (and it isn't) - Why??
There is no use of the classic account other than to be merged with new BOINC account, who cares what email is defined inside?

And the simple procedure for merge is in Message 1190389
You have to have somewhere list of your old email addresses (NO, NOT any password needed)

Hi BilBG,
Except it isnt a classic a/c as it turns out, its a boinc one:-(
And if I want to do anything regarding it I would need to be able to logon to that a/c and that needs a password.

Email Addy... = email address. And since its not possible[apparently] to login and change that email address to my current one since 'that' is in use on my present a/c I could at least 'team it to this present a/c if I could be bothered with the hassle this has caused:-)

And no I do NOT have 'anywhere' a list of my old email addresses, in 2007 I had a massive clearout of old 'junk' and event if such a list existed it would also have to include the required passwords.. Since I already know that old email address, its the password used that escapes me...
And lets not forget that old email a/c dates back 12 years, its not exactly surprising I can't remember the password used..There has been a lot of water under the bridge since then, a lot of it I'd rather not have seen.
