Ray Hinchcliffe, the author of SIV (System Information Viewer) needs testers to help evaluate his latest betas which provide detailed information on the memory subsystems and CUDA and OpenCL capabilities of a crunching system's graphics cards. Specifically he is looking for power crunchers who run multiple graphics cards in a single platform. SIV can analyze up to 8 running GPU's, but he is looking for users who have up to 16 GPU's running on a single platform. He needs testers to help validate the reporting of SIV. He only has 4 GPU's running on his test computers and would like to have testers who have more than 4 GPU's run his program and send him the results. You can learn about SIV here:

http://rh-software.com/

The wealth of system information provided by SIV is unparalalled in my experience and I encourage everyone to give it a look. It is free to download and distribute. Ray does take donations to help with the development of SIV.

You can get the latest beta release here:

http://rh-software.com/downloads/siv_beta.zip

I'm a happy user helping Ray out with his development but don't have the necessary hardware to help the further development of SIV. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Keith

The latest Beta also has a [BOINC Status] page that shows all the BOINC tasks and plots the %CPU time they are using.

I found that if I press F5 (or Alt-D & Enter) the image sometimes loads.

(Hint: on the SIV website click on the name Hinchliffe to see something BIG ;)
http://rh-software.com/
)

I use SIV for years
It's always loaded (from Startup, using -Tray command line switch in the shortcut)

Thanks Ray
:)

A .png is a Portable Network Graphics file, a bitmapped image format that employs lossless data compression. That you get the error is because the file isn't available on the server.

It would be terrific if Windows-only things (like this) were identified as such.
So folks like me would not get excited about 'something new to me'
only to discover .... not applicable.

If I had really studied Message 1189746 I would have figured it out
(backslashes etc) but ... sigh (now I feel a bit like a dunce).
It is a pretty picture in that Message though.

Well, happy Seti computing to all.

Thank you for letting me know. Please send me the save file generated by doing
Menu->File->Save Local
and I will see if I can fix it.

Link works ok now, thanks.

2 Q's... on looking on main page, can't find any mention of the Beta version & 2, does it cover all Boinc projects or just Seti?

If a SIV save operation crashes the last line in the save file will be the section it was processing when it failed. It would be usefil to know this. There are also instructions in the Issue Reporting section of http://rh-software.com/ on how to generate crash dump files for both Windows 7/Vista/8 and earlier systems.

Try to use:
Save Selected

Look at which entry it crashes (or hangs).
The next 'Save Selected' uncheck that entry and try again.

Report at which entry it crashes.

I know what you mean, and sometimes I take the extra step of trying it under wine just so I can mock-complain that it doesn't work for me.

All things considered, I was impressed by how well it ran under wine. (quite well) I've come to expect total failure from these sorts of utilities when put in that situation.

One thing I noticed, though: In all the network information, it lacked any information regarding IPv6. Feature request?

Yes, There is lots of code to get round Wine not being quite the same as Windows. If you run it as root it will do better as this will allow the creation of the MSR devices and may allow physical memory access.
