After 4 months of bring offline, I'm trying to reconnect. I have a an 8-core i7 box with Nvidia GPU I manually aborted several workunits, then triggered the "1 workunit max per day" mode. Things still don't seem happy, I'm getting to the Internet through a tethered cell phone via T-mobile, and browsing and web surfing are all OK (but slowed to 10KBytes/sec while I'm over my wireless "quota") Here are the representative SETI messages: What log files or debugging can I enable to figure out why tasks are getting hosed on download? The only hardware thing I've done to the machine recently is add 12G of RAM, bring the total to 18G. My GPU is a 250-series, so I only have single-precision GPU, so Milkyway@home doesn't like me anymore. After my mobile ISP lifted my data rate caps, I can now download Einstein@home workunits. However, SETI is still stuck in "HTTP error land" - this has been going on for nearly two weeks now... I set my BOINC download rate to 200 kbps , and Einstein at home cruňches just fine. Is there a way to force download of a CPU-only SETI@home client? Seems prudent to rule out all the other possible issues.... Thanks! - Ralph Here are the recent error messages: Sun 05 Feb 2012 11:06:05 PM EST SETI@home Started download of setiathome-5.28_AUTHORS Sun 05 Feb 2012 11:06:05 PM EST SETI@home Started download of setiathome-5.28_COPYING Sun 05 Feb 2012 11:06:09 PM EST SETI@home Temporarily failed download of setiathome-5.28_AUTHORS: HTTP error Sun 05 Feb 2012 11:06:09 PM EST SETI@home Backing off 2 hr 13 min 47 sec on download of setiathome-5.28_AUTHORS Sun 05 Feb 2012 11:06:09 PM EST SETI@home Temporarily failed download of setiathome-5.28_COPYING: HTTP error Sun 05 Feb 2012 11:06:09 PM EST SETI@home Backing off 57 min 42 sec on download of setiathome-5.28_COPYING Sun 05 Feb 2012 11:06:09 PM EST SETI@home Started download of setiathome-5.28_COPYRIGHT Sun 05 Feb 2012 11:06:09 PM EST SETI@home Started download of setiathome-5.28_README Sun 05 Feb 2012 11:06:11 PM EST SETI@home Temporarily failed download of setiathome-5.28_COPYRIGHT: HTTP error Sun 05 Feb 2012 11:06:11 PM EST SETI@home Backing off 1 min 18 sec on download of setiathome-5.28_COPYRIGHT Sun 05 Feb 2012 11:06:11 PM EST SETI@home Temporarily failed download of setiathome-5.28_README: HTTP error Sun 05 Feb 2012 11:06:11 PM EST SETI@home Backing off 1 min 0 sec on download of setiathome-5.28_README |

Also, based on advice in other threads in 2011, I've done a "reset project", which force a new download of .png files. Are there any SETI Server problems that would cause this? Should I try downloading the files manually with wget? It seems like the problems are BOINC communicated with the SETI project servers. Sun 05 Feb 2012 11:22:33 PM EST SETI@home Resetting project |

I've tried manual download as well, and it returns a 502 HTTP error. Einstein at home is running fine, but the BOINC/SETI@home combo can't download:
workunits updated binaries and the files with names ending in _COPYING, etc.

Lets try this way then. http://www.arkayn.us/forum/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=46 And also I would recommend http://www.arkayn.us/forum/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=12 and this if you want to crunch with CUDA http://www.arkayn.us/forum/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=45 |
