Wonder if someone could help...

What does this mean...
<p>Wu ID</p>
<p>Result
ID
</p>

This is probably a repeat of another old thread but i have looked and found nothing... is it due to background noise??

I mean, can a computer really complete a work unit in 0.00 seconds?

Hi,

I think, that's the same problem like written in this thread
http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=6594

But still no answer or solution. :-(
Keep crunching. ;-)

Greetings
Stefan

Hi,

i'm new to SETI@home and completed 1 WU yesterday. I've a claimed credit from 42.6 but he isn't awarded likewise!?
If i click on "pending credit" it sais, that this feature is temporarely disabled. But my credit is currently pending - what's going on there?

Best regards
Benjamin

Pending credit is a serve function that has been disabled temporarily. You can still see your pending credit in the Results section.

As far as Granted credit goes, you will only be awarded credit when that workunit has been returned by 3 different users.

eg.. WorkUnit 2234233, sent to 3 different people,
Person A Claimed 30
Person B Claimed 34
Person C Claimed 20

Granted credit will = 30 to all that processed that workunit. Sometimes you get more than what you claimed but more chance of getting less (in my own opinion)

There is lots of documentation on this subject found on the seti/boinc site...

Ah i understand, sorry i didn't read this chapter of the documentation.
Also, if i'm person A, everyone becomes my 42.6 credits right!? Well, i read this after chapter in the documentation ;).

A little question to "Boincstats", i've seen this in the signature here... but if i'm searching for my username there, he's not listed!? Is it because i've processed and completed 1 WU at this time?

Best regards

If person B and C then claimed 42.6 credits then yes, everyone would get the same amount of credits as you. As NovaPaul point out, everyone would gain 30 credits, where I think you got confused was, is that 30 is the middle number of A B and C's results :) so once all 3 results have been returned, the middle number of credits granted goes to each person.. sorry if this has confused you even more, im just trying to express in my own words the way i see it :P it doesnt help that its 1:32am here in NZ either lol

This is a wu with too much noise, shown by all results giving -9, and is therefore terminating after some seconds.
But for some reason BOINC doesn't correctly count the first minute or something of a wu, so 2 users have therefore reported 0 seconds, and the 3rd only 28 seconds. It's nothing wrong with the result-file, it's just the reporting of cpu-time that isn't correct if terminated nearly immediately.

Since all 3 is validated, the normal crediting of remove highest & lowest claimed and averaging the rest is done, in other words most cases the middle, this unfortunately gave zero to all in this instance.

In any case this wu would only have given 0.06 Cobblestones, and in seti most wu terminating early still gives credit so getting an ocassional zero-credit-wu for 1 minute crunching isn't a problem.

Hi seito,
here it's 3:48 PM :D ... confusing this time zones :).
I understand the system now better. 3 people crunch the same data!

Person A: 32,65
Person B: 40,69
Person C: 40,22

So, the highest (40,69) and the lowest credit (32,65) expire. So everyone become the rest who is left and the middle thing from this 3 results => 40,22 credits for everyone. Clever system!

Best regards and good night to NZ ;)
