There's many planets out there to be found!

This is also a good contest of the Human mind and biological image processing over the power of our silicon-based beasts... ;-)

Volunteers wanted for planet hunt

Members of the public are being asked to join the hunt for nearby planets that could support life.

Volunteers can go to the Planethunters website to see time-lapsed images of 150,000 stars, taken by the Kepler space telescope. ...

The BBC are a bit late with this bit of news.

Planet hunting fills in a bit of time though.

One of the early planethunters finds:

Stargazing viewer in planet coup

The public push initiated on BBC Two's Stargazing Live series to find planets beyond our Solar System has had an immediate result.

A viewer who answered the call has helped spot a world that appears to be circling a star dubbed SPH10066540. ...

What do you think about this candidate?

It seems to fit their criteria.

I'm no authority on the subject, but... There does look to be three broad dips and a lot of other noise. A bit of a dusty one, or a large family?

I'd say that one is worth looking at further.

(Is this seti science?)

It certainly increased my interest when I got that

candidate to look at.

I normally take a little bit of time with the drag bars

and zoom to have a closer look, but I must have been on

an hour with that one. :)

It fills in a bit of time anyway.

Looks to be a good find!

And far better than going ga-ga in front of trash-TV or going blind with silly stories in the gutter press (or whatever it is most of the rest of the population usually do!)... ;-)
