Ok, anywhere it is dark is now just starting to get aurora. The CME (coronal mass ejection) has just hit the earth, and we are at storm level.

I'll keep popping out now and again to see if I can see it. Although I haven't seen any stars so I may be out of luck for this one.

Trouble is its a full moon, well up in the Eastern sky.
Might just be a slight horizon glow in a place that's normally free from light pollution.
I'll just have to keep looking.

You just have to hope for a clear night. Two nights ago people were getting displays even with the moon up. This year I was able to get an image even with the moon very close to full.

Could hardly see the moon thanks to the clouds, and I didn't see any aurora. Nice pics Celt. In moonlight as well.

There you go almost a full moon and we got aurora pix taken after 11:00 local Now we can only hope they get even brighter as the night goes on.

CME IMPACT: As expected, the flank of a CME hit Earth's magnetic field today, March 15th, around 1300 UT. The impact sparked a moderate (Kp=6) geomagnetic storm, in progress. Conditions are becoming favorable for high-latitude auroras.
