Yes. It takes a little while, but your star will show up here.

What Sten-Arne is mentioning here I have probably have seen earlier on as well.

Anyway, shouldn't we be looking for digital signals, not analog ones, meaning that the definition narrowband signal becomes obsolete and having no meaning at all?

Our own systems are going digital, television sets dealing with frequencies are being replaced by pre-programmed digital tuners. Also DAB or digital radio will soon be launched here, replacing an awkward system that is currently in existence. Mobile phones have preset frequencies, making its users unable to scan the mobile net like you are able to do with existing radio tuners.

Soon you will probably not be able to tune between stations either.

Ah, but, for those of us with N9JFE or G1FYE and the like in their name,
we can watch the watchmen,
though the `interesting` stuff is all encrypted spread spectrum etc these days :(

Thank you Ricardo, that's exactly how to see it.
Sorry for responding so late, I had to crunch some units first due to too small RAC to post again.
I did concentrate on other projects for too long.

the transmitter is orbiting a star.
the receiver is orbiting a star.
the stares are in different orbits around the galaxy.
the relative velocity between the two is constantly changing.
hence, frequency drift.

I used to run my computer on seti for quite a while then I got a new computer and just got back to it with a new name.
We on earth have been using radio for just about 100 years, and recently new modulation schemes such as spread spectrum and frequency hopping which can be very difficult to detect even if you are looking for them. Any advanced civilization may be using techniques we don't have a clue how to detect.
Perhaps they now use gravity waves or quantum duality to communicate.
A very advanced civilazation would use ways we would feel are magic and beyond our understanding.
Still, I like SETI and maybe, just maybe a signal will be out there.

Yes!

Nice to see some scientists dealing with the subject of the aliens.

But without checking out the last postings or have it in front of me right now, there may be obtained a graphics representation of a possible signal as it is detected. For example a white "noisy" line not perfectly vertical, but slightly off this axis.

You get this graphics representation because a signal of possible extraterrestrial origin most likely would be a source outside our own solar system and therefore belonging to another star. Such a signal, if possibly being detected, therefore needs to have traveled considerable distance through space, which means it most likely have taken many years to travel such a long way.

If a signal travels a long distance, it definitely diminishes in its signal quality and the details vanishes from sight. You therefore may not be able to know or detect what eventually was in such a signal and whether it may have consisted of a series of gaussians, or possibly something else.

I did check around before asking this, but couldn't find anything, so...

Is there an ETA for when we start getting Kepler and/or Green Bank work units?

Thanks!

This work is a ways off in the future. It has not even shown up on SETI Beta yet. I would look for no earlier than this fall personally. Last I heard was they are looking into if they need to write a whole new science app to do the analysis or if the can shoe horn it into the existing MB science application. The last mutter I heard on this topic said it looked like a new science app but I have not heard the "final" or anything close to an official post on this.

Matt posted in the tech news forum that he has started more work on software for the Green Bank Telescope data. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=67536#1213706
Shows they are doing stuff for the Kepler run.
Edit it was Matt not Jeff posting my mistake.
