Enjoying the work we do for the SETI projekt.
Some WU`s are pending OK
But when people dl 10´s of WU´s, never intenting to crunch them and therefore stalling the process...
Well it annoys me !

Found dozens of them, like host 309266.

Ok i feel better now, must have been that bitter pill :-)

I was myself guilty of something like that. It was in the process of upgrading from 4.09 to 4.13 of BOINC CC. The client went mad and downloaded a bunch of wu's and immediately dumped them to nirvana. On my result page they remained as status 'new' until they timed out.

Sorry, but sh*t happens, especially with BOINC - no pun intended ;)

Aloha, Uli

I've had shit happen to me also, like power outages where I lost all the WU's I had, a couple of times in fact, I've invested in 6 Backup UPS since then to eliminate that problem at least.

I also keep my Computers Hidden so all the Busy Bodies around here who have nothing better to do than go around and snoop in other peoples accounts can't get into mine at least ...

I Don't get It,

Marisuz joined 18 Oct 2004, Didn't download any work Untill
Novenber 11th. He has 10 units in que and might be too soon to return results or has dial up modem

Maybe I missed something here?

Now I have lost my share too, Not on purpose but thru some errors some my fault
and some not. The longer the system stays stable the less we'll have incompletes.

PoorBoy that is the best answer I have seen as to why hide your puters!

Thanks

Yup, if for no other reason it's good enough for me to keep them hidden.

It's like a Salem Witch Hunt around here to see who can find the most clients & hosts that messed up whether it be their fault or not ...

No witch hunting was intended :-)

Just annoyed me that a lot of my pending files were linked to that host.
And it has happened a few times the past months.
You don´t even have too look into peoples accounts, just look at Your own pending WU´s.
The host shows no matter if hidden or not.
If the same host is in a lot of Your pending work... well ??

This wasn´t ment to become flaming or bashing !
Just my two cents, nothing else :-)

Bukken,

We will see if Marisuz returns results in a few days, The only thing I can think is his results or lack of were purged. Maybe he was just a bad example for you to give.

Again most of the noncomplete wu's will dwindle the longer the system stays
stable.

Keep us informed..

I’ve dumped WUs myself as well.
Not a good thing to do but under certain circumstances you have no choice – as an example, I had a disk crash on one of my developer boxes… a lot of WUs disappeared. Not good but nothing you can do about it.

Happy crunching
