didn't work, perhaps i will try the oven trick tonight on the daughter card...

it is probably early to call success, but it passed memtestCL!

395F for 10 min in the oven on convection. I just couldn't resist...

Oh no! Torture... ;)

Hope It works for Ya RM.

To keep the 295's from melting down, I've mounted a 120mm fan on the outside blowing into the end of the 295's with some ducting to exhaust the hot air expelled on the inside of the case. I'm trying to keep hot air from being recirculated.

Please note that the Lunatics Installer does not automatically install additional fans and ducting ;-)

Any chance on getting the ATI 7970 able to crunch SETI? from what I am reading, the app has issues with 11.10 and 11.11, so I am presuming that 11.12 and 12.1 are also affected. Is this true?

No it is not. The Cat 11.12 release seems to be good, at the moment. I don't think we have seen results from a HD7000 yet though. So get on it! ;)

According to Raistmer the HD5 app (indicated in the installer as suitable for 5xxx and 6xxx series) should work on 7xxx as well.
Be aware, you are entering uncharted territory - good luck.

well, so far its running on both the 6970 and 7970 (same system). Im a bit disappointed by the GPU load though on the 7970

GPU1 is the 7970, GPU2 is the 6970. They are placed with 2u spacing between them for better ventilation, however this means they are sharing the same 16x PCI-e channel (running at 8x 2.0 each)

Just under three and a half minutes. Could be a difference in the work units or it could be your graphics (monitor) are running off the 7970 slowing it down a little. Give it a few to get a good check on it.

On Cat 11.12 and 12.1. preview its better to run more instances per device to get better GPU load.

I run 3 atm on my 5850.

Either that, or the one that says "Pay bearer the sum of $......." (in untraceable used beer tokens)

I have to run 3 per 5870 GPU, getting too much -177 errors, otherwise.
Elapsed time is the same, when doing 3 on each GPU.

It is always important to actually look at the results instead of just the GUI of BOINC. As it doesn't give you any details about what is, or has been, going on.

Looking at the results shows the task that ran on your 7970 ran for over 10 minutes on the CPU.

So comparing those two doesn't give you much info.

With my 6970 I run 3 at a time with 84% GPU load.
Sometimes an AP joins the MBs on the GPU.
(AP is set to 3 at a time too)

I am finding that when I set <type>ATI</type> <count>0.25</count>, its not running 4 tasks at once, just one still, but the other 3 sit idle, with the process time incrementing as if it was running (resulting in a time that 2, 3, or 4x longer than it should be). On the plus side, the GPU is getting used more as its not idle waiting for more tasks to download. Another strange thing is often I will see 2 tasks on "device 0" running at once, and non on "device 1", yet when I look at my GPU load, its showing as though one tack is running on each GPU.

I cannot determine by looking at the list of tasks in my account, which ran on the 6970, and which ran on the 7970.

on the plus side, so far none have been marked as invalid yet.

I am using BOINC 7.0.11 x64 on windows 8 x64.

Please read release notes.
It's required to set command line argument for app too to get few tasks per card running.

looking at http://lunatics.kwsn.net/downloads/Lunatics_ReadMe.txt again, it shows nothing on command line options other than to help increase or reduce UI lag. Only mention of running multiple WUs per card was in the NVidia section, and that is what I did, change the <count>1</count> variable.

You need to modify this command line.

<cmdline>-period_iterations_num 15 -instances_per_device 3</cmdline>
<count>0.33</count>

I referring to release notes for OpenCL app itself. Hope next installer release will include description of all available app switches...
