I've tried the direct way and the proxies listed here and I can't do anything, no uploads or downloads, are there any other proxies available? The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

edit.....I wonder if they mind all the traffic going to Berkeley......... You can try Hotspot Shield http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=64691&nowrap=true#1140754 I think their servers will work always. Every time you start Hotspot Shield another (random) server is used. Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |

Nothing works because SETI is down, there is only one thing we can do: waiting As so often before, you can't trust the server status page, according to that page all is running. |

Well I'm nearly full again though using a proxy is still giving me a 3-5x faster download speeds than without. Cheers. |

I did the same tracerouting to boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu (208.68.240.13) but got this result: 1 75.125.232.57 (75.125.232.57) 0.670 ms 0.407 ms 0.377 ms 2 te1-4.dsr01.hstntx1.networklayer.com (207.218.223.5) 0.640 ms 0.457 ms 0.385 ms 3 te1-1.dsr02.hstntx1.networklayer.com (74.55.252.2) 1.419 ms 0.568 ms 0.344 ms 4 te3-8.dsr02.dllstx3.networklayer.com (70.87.253.53) 5.471 ms 5.299 ms 5.366 ms 5 e4-4.ibr04.dllstx3.networklayer.com (70.87.255.41) 16.304 ms e6-1.ibr04.dllstx3.networklayer.com (70.87.255.45) 7.203 ms e4-4.ibr04.dllstx3.networklayer.com (70.87.255.41) 5.794 ms 6 10gigabitethernet3-1.core1.dal1.he.net (206.223.118.37) 5.790 ms 5.811 ms 5.835 ms 7 10gigabitethernet1-2.core1.phx1.he.net (72.52.92.253) 29.819 ms 29.791 ms 29.565 ms 8 10gigabitethernet2-2.core1.lax1.he.net (72.52.92.249) 39.438 ms 39.584 ms 39.660 ms 9 10gigabitethernet1-3.core1.pao1.he.net (72.52.92.21) 51.419 ms 49.379 ms 49.150 ms 10 64.71.140.42 (64.71.140.42) 46.673 ms 46.344 ms 46.915 ms 11 208.68.243.254 (208.68.243.254) 88.892 ms 90.088 ms 89.608 ms 12 * * * 13 * Here something clearly goes wrong because this goes on beyond 30 hops. 2 addresses are also unresolved. I used a tool on the web from a company called tracert.org which I believe is located in the US. The name boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu looks to me that there are using SSL. Could this be causing any troubles? Proxies seems not to have this problem which is weird. |

... The ssl in the URL stands for Space Sciences Laboratory, that's the designation for the UCB building where S@h is located (along with many other space related efforts). Joe |

Update at 13:45Z 18/11/11 Downloads direct av. 5KBs with >50% halts and timeouts Downloads via Proxy av. 25KBs peaking at 100KBs with approx 10% halts and timeouts. I would really like to know why this is so. What sneaky pipeline does this proxy have to the SAH servers ? T.A. |

Which proxy? If that proxy in the US, there might be that HE has a nice bandwidth in the US but worse bandwidth thru the ocean. Your path to the proxy lays thru ocean cable of another provider and your path from proxy to S@H not the same as your path directly to the S@H. |

Update at 13:45Z 18/11/11 For all we know it is in a rack next to the PAIX router. Which would be silly, but could be true. SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

Here from Switzerland, I had a strong slow down of seti communication and a lot of packet loss pinging seti server. 5 minutes ago I have seen this thread and I decide to use 69.163.96.2 HTTP proxy. Now I'm downloading ad full speed from all my PC's. Can I use it always? |

5 minutes ago I have seen this thread and I decide to use 69.163.96.2 HTTP proxy. It depends on the owner/administrator of the proxy. They may not want that much traffic going through it and cut off access to S@H. Here from Switzerland, I had a strong slow down of seti communication and a lot of packet loss pinging seti server. I have used various proxies which I got from http://www.xroxy.com/proxylist.htm. You can filter by country and other items to find the one that works best for you. Ok, it's clear .. but what is the meaning of the "country" selection? The proxy we are speaking of (69.163.96.2:8080) is in California, so I'm sure to bypass the problem in between. Why should I use a Swiss, Austrian, German, Frenc or Italian proxy? |
