I've tried the direct way and the proxies listed here and I can't do anything, no uploads or downloads, are there any other proxies available?

edit.....I wonder if they mind all the traffic going to Berkeley.........

I was wondering that myself. During the previous HE router problems the admins of the proxies that were being used noticed their bandwidth usage going through the roof and eventually blocked the SAH IP's. Hence the continuing hunt for working proxies.

You can try Hotspot Shield
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=64691&nowrap=true#1140754

I think their servers will work always.
Every time you start Hotspot Shield another (random) server is used.

As so often before, you can't trust the server status page, according to that page all is running.

Well I'm nearly full again though using a proxy is still giving me a 3-5x faster download speeds than without.

Cheers.

I came home to find both my systems have work- the proxy is the best thing i've done with Seti since optimised apps.

Here something clearly goes wrong because this goes on beyond 30 hops.
2 addresses are also unresolved.

I used a tool on the web from a company called tracert.org which I believe is located in the US.

The name boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu looks to me that there are using SSL.
Could this be causing any troubles?
Proxies seems not to have this problem which is weird.

SSL means Space Sciences Laboratory:

The ssl in the URL stands for Space Sciences Laboratory, that's the designation for the UCB building where S@h is located (along with many other space related efforts).

Update at 13:45Z 18/11/11
Downloads direct av. 5KBs with >50% halts and timeouts
Downloads via Proxy av. 25KBs peaking at 100KBs with approx 10% halts and timeouts.

I would really like to know why this is so. What sneaky pipeline does this proxy have to the SAH servers ?

Which proxy?
If that proxy in the US, there might be that HE has a nice bandwidth in the US but worse bandwidth thru the ocean. Your path to the proxy lays thru ocean cable of another provider and your path from proxy to S@H not the same as your path directly to the S@H.

Me to. I tried tracerouting but that gives me only the direct way.
Do you know how to traceroute via a proxy?

It is not possible to (icmp) traceroute via a http proxy.
The only way to execute a traceroute on that machine is to have an user account on it. Or ask proxy's owner to do it for you (not recommended, heh...).

For all we know it is in a rack next to the PAIX router. Which would be silly, but could be true.

For me, the proxy no longer works at all. BOINC is unable to connect to the internet.

Here from Switzerland, I had a strong slow down of seti communication and a lot of packet loss pinging seti server.
5 minutes ago I have seen this thread and I decide to use 69.163.96.2 HTTP proxy.
Now I'm downloading ad full speed from all my PC's.

Can I use it always?

It depends on the owner/administrator of the proxy. They may not want that much traffic going through it and cut off access to S@H.

I have used various proxies which I got from http://www.xroxy.com/proxylist.htm. You can filter by country and other items to find the one that works best for you.

Ok, it's clear .. but what is the meaning of the "country" selection?
The proxy we are speaking of (69.163.96.2:8080) is in California, so I'm sure to bypass the problem in between. Why should I use a Swiss, Austrian, German, Frenc or Italian proxy?
