Newspapers know that their readers love five minutes of spitting anger over breakfast, this should furnish plenty of fodder for them: Court awards £17,000 to detained illegal immigrant Sometimes i really worry about the future of this country! Welcome to the 21st Century. This type of thing has been going on in North America for a while. It has a purpose. You need a country run by rules, and the rules need to apply to everyone, including illegal immigrants. There are countries where this doesn't work - you read about them in the news every day. You don't want to live in a country like that. You break the rules, you pay. It doesn't matter if you are the government. Rules are rules. If you pay enough you start to learn this, and you stop breaking rules. Or, in a democracy, you can change the rules if you have to. We are all better off in the long run, although it can be annoying in the short run. Just remember, the next time the government breaks the rules it might not be with an illegal immigrant. It might be you or me. |

Welcome to the 21st Century. This type of thing has been going on in North America for a while. It has a purpose. I don't agree with you on this one, Bill. The rules of a country are to govern those who are citizens of that country. Separate laws apply to those who are in the country illegally, and should not offer the same protections, other than perhaps of life and limb. And of course, deportation. This whole immigration does rather annoy me. Even when they catch them, they release them pending a court appearance. Only to find they don't appear & have done a runner. All because of the EU rules. We should be more like Australia & put them on the first plane out! Regardless of which direction its going. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

Perhaps a radical approach to solving this illegal immigrant situation is what is required here. Once discovered to be illegals then put them behind bars until their home country has been identified. Then send them back home and if their home country wont accept them then they spend the rest of their lives in jail. This method of handling them surely will have a major impact on the illegals mind set when considering entering the UK illegally in the future. Good point Bill. Regardless of nationality, humans are humans, and whenever government starts stepping on humans it needs to be stopped. Like the old man said, “What do you do when the government starts stepping on you?†|

No Human is Illegal That's correct, it's just some of their actions though that become illegal. The Kite Fliers -------------------- Kite fliers: An imaginary club of solo members, those who don't yet belong to a formal team so "fly their own kites" - as the saying goes. |
