Whilst on a few pounces around youtube, I found this.....a documentary on SRV that I had not run across before. The quality is crappy, but if you remember the man and love him as I still do, it's worth a watch. Some great still photos of Stevie in his youth and beyond....and great early footage. It's an hour or so if you track through all the links, but worth it.

I was at that last show at Alpine Valley that fateful night. And I stayed with him before that through that terribly awful double live album he did in his depths.

The sad part of the story is that he was taken from us at his prime.....after all the bad parts of his life which he had given up.....he was on a meteoric rise.......
I so connected with his song 'Life by the Drop'....and still do. Fitting, as they saw the connection too, and used it for the closing creds on the docu.

And I shall never forget the man or his music. There was no other like him. Even his older brother Jimmie Lee never held a candle to him, and he knew it.
Still miss you, my man...always will.

When I heard the news of his death, I crashed on the floor, immovable for hours......it was all I could do to convince my boss that I, myself, was somewhat OK.

I give you......
Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Oooh, I love Alpine Valley! I've seen all my OzzFest tours there! Too bad I'll never run into ya due to our different tastes in music. ;-)

I suspect...LOL.

Yeah, Alpine is a great venue. Reliant upon the weather of course, being an outdoor show. The performances that last night were tremendous.

I was only 6 years old when he died, but I grew up listening to the likes of him, BB King, Clapton, etc. Always loved his music, had so much soul behind it that the crap today couldn't dream of having.

Thanks again, Pawly.

Finally had the time to track through that in it's entirety.
Amazing...recorded up close and personal.
Another tasty treat.
