A Spaceman Came Travelling;

Chris de Burgh - A Spaceman Came Travelling(1975);
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmZg7tvGN9o

Listen to the words of the song very carefully!!

The song was written by Chris de Burgh back in 1975. In the song he suggests that the Christmas star that hung over Bethlehem when Jesus Christ was born was a UFO. He elaborates in the words of the song and suggests that an Astronaut actually gets out of the spaceship and interacts with Mary and Joseph.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Spaceman_Came_Travelling

Whats interesting is that near the end of the song, Chris de Burgh suggests that the "Song will play again". He suggests that "When 2,000 years of your time has gone by, this song will begin once again".

Was Chris de Burgh right?
Is it happening again?
Is it happening again, right now, and people just don't notice?
Was there a child born in or around the year 2,000 that is Jesus Christ being re-born?

Because thats the story of Jesus Christ. Mary gave birth to him in Bethlehem. If Chris de Burgh is right, then that child would be about 11 years old, just going on 12 this Christmas. When Jesus was growing up, nobody really recognised him as coming from God. So if this child exists today, nobody would really recognise him until he was old enough and ready enough to tell everyone.

Maybe if people are visiting us from other planets, they can't breath our atmosphere. So they need to be "re-born" in a human body. A human woman would have to play host to the new baby. She might or might not know what baby she was carrying.

Read exactly what Jesus said himself.
John 3; http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+3&version=NIV

John 3:7; Jesus says:
"You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’"

Its funny, but Jesus is very specific in that passage. He actually repeats the same thing a few times when questioned. He specifically says "You must be born again" to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus is very sure about it. Is it because he knows that to live on another planet, other than Earth, you need to be re-born in a new body with DNA adapted to breath the atmosphere on that specific planet. Is it that you also have to be re-born to remove the "flaw" that was installed in our human DNA that shortens the human lifespan to about 70 to 80 years. That way you could have new DNA that allowed you to live to 900 years like the people in the old testiment of the Bible.

What do you think?

Again, you are taking concepts known today and applying them to a story of parables written 1400 years ago. (By the way, Year 1 A.D. is the approximate date when Christians believe Jesus was born. They had no concept of zero when the calendar was designed. 2,000 years later would be 2,001, so if this child was "reborn", he would be 10 going on 11. Someone who claims to have such high connections such as yourself would not make an elementary mistake like this.)

In the stories of the Bible, to be "reborn" means to start a new life with new philosophies. During the spread of Christianity, you had to be "reborn" through Baptism so that you could leave your old life and sins behind - so you could start fresh as if you were newly born, hence "reborn".

To suggest that this translates into aliens being unable to breathe our air, or that the authors of the Bible knew of DNA (remember, the authors got to decide what to put in the Bible or not, and it was 600 years after this person allegedly walked the Earth that they decided to put a collection of stories together and call it their Bible. There's no evidence whatsoever to indicate that any passage in the Bible quoting this Jesus they mention is really a direct quote or made up by the fevered imaginations of the committee), is just plain insanity.

I see little point in continuing these supposed translations and somehow calling them "science" in the science forum. Perhaps I should petition the Administrators to create a Science Fiction forum and request that your posts be moved there.

John 3:7; Jesus says:
"You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’"

Before quoting scripture, you should get a Strong Concordance an a KJV which it is keyed to. Then you can translate the text back to the original language.

The verse really reads ‘You must be born from above.’"

Science Fiction has led to Science and Science has led to Science Fiction. So, I see No Beef with J.G as to Where The Post Should Be.

Although a Science Fiction Forum would be Cool Man, Cool. And why there is not one, is Beyond Any Reason.

I like Johnney. He is More Interesting Than Most.

I enjoy the show Ancient Aliens from The History Channel. Maybe such Speculations as Presented on this show could be talked about in PseudoScience and PseudoHistory Forums.

If we did indeed live to be 900, would People be so sure of themselves and The "Facts" from Science they expouse? Or open to all Speculation since the Length of Years has Humiliated them more than once?

Dull. Factually Dull

May we All have a METAMORPHOSIS. REASON. GOoD JUDGEMENT and LOVE and ORDER!!!!!

Hard to be humiliated unless you put faith into what you believe. I could live to 3000 years old and constantly be amazed at what we find through science using the scientific method. But the more we amass knowledge and gather data, the more we can rule out the more outlandish theories that have no basis in fact or no data to back them up. If you're going to make wild claims, you better have proof as to why your conclusions are the correct ones.

Gods and God-Like have been surprised and amazed at a Humiliating Defeat they experienced with an invention developed by The Scientific Method and practiced upon them.

I have Faith and Believe it will happen again. And Smiles will be had by All.

That only means that their expectations were too high or that they didn't research their design enough. No big deal. And yes, it will happen again and again.

It's not a failure of the scientific method. It's a failure of the person.

...and smiles should be had by all. For "I have not failed 1,000 times, I have only found 1,000 ways that do not work."

I agree 100% with your take on this thread and would support the addition of a Science Fiction and or paranormal forum.

Well I was largely using my sarcastic sense of humor there. I don't think we need more forums, we're fine the way we are. But thank you for the vote of confidence. :-D

On the topic of creating new forums, i also agree that currently we have too many forums. About 2 or 3 years ago, Misfit didn't like some of the topics being discussed here in the "Science" forum so he got the science forum split into 2 forums, "SETI science" and "Non-SETI science".

To be honest, today, there are less people posting messages on any of these forums. If we were doing anything, we should be merging the 2 science forums back together again. In the end, its best to just leave the forums alone and not do anything with them. They are fine as they are! The more you split the forums, the less time people have for reading the messages.

Back to the Chris de Burgh song, again it seems the atheist's here want to censor the written word. For thousands of years, in many cultures and societies, many leaders tried to censor information by burning books and publicly hanging the authors in town squares. Its never worked. Thank God for free human rights, freedom of speech and the ability to freely publish information.

How do you know your if your not a scientific thinker? .... You know your not a scientific thinker then you want to censor someone else's written word and way's of doing things!

Pyramids shut

I hope these guys make the most of 12/12/12 because there won't be a 13/13/13. At least not on our planet.

Well Chris is seems that nothing happened. Ahhhh well, maybe they can hope for a better outcome on December 21st 2012, see if the Mayans were right.
