I downloaded Boinc client binary from Lars website and run:

./boinc_client -attach_project http://setiathome.berkeley.edu "account key"

There is a line say: "This project doesn't support computers of type i686-pc-solaris"
Is my boinc running correctly?

You will need this app from Dotsch
http://www.dotsch.de/seti/seti_boinc-6.03.10-solaris-x86.tar.gz

Message 1160223 - Posted: 8 Oct 2011, 15:36:11 UTC - in response to Message 1159789.

I have downloaded both setiathome enhanced and astropulse application
and extract the files to /opt/boinc/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/
and i also edit the app_info.xml to match the setiathome(version number)
and astropulse(veriosn_number) to the files.

than i run
./boinc_client -update_prefs http://setiathome.berkeley.edu

the respond i got is this (last two lines):
Suspending computation - time of day
Suspending network activity - time of day

I am running the Dotsch BOINC client and the SETI apps on my Solaris Express guest OS via VirtualBox, The 6.03 app runs OK, I never got an astropulse unit. The only problem is that it runs slowly because my Opteron 1210 which is SSE3 capable is seen only as a PentiumPro+mmx. But all others programs, including Firefox 6.02, run fast on the Solaris OS, so I think the problem is in the BOINC client and not in the SETI@home app.

Message 1160856 - Posted: 10 Oct 2011, 7:26:18 UTC - in response to Message 1160595.

my boinc downloaded an astropulse work unit and start running,
but after few hours it say: "Task ap_26jn1lab_.... exited with zero status but no 'finished' file."

Is it because i need to chown first?
so I stop boinc and key in a command:
(in /opt)
chown root:sys ./boinc/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/*
and than run ./boinc again. (i am running in terminal under root)
and so it restart the task.

am i doing the right thing?

I am not running any BOINC project as root in Linux or in Solaris. The message you saw appears to me after any 60 minutes session of Test4Theory@home which runs Scientific Linux programs by CERN on a VirtualMachine BOINC_VM provided by CERN. They appear to have no ill effect.

My boinc (on Solaris 10) so far crunched 3 setiathome-enhanced wu and one astropulse wu.

All 3 setiathome.enhanced wu produced error but the astropulse's result is ok.
Seem like i will need to re-iinstall the whole Solaris 10 and the boinc again.
It is on a P-IV machine that i am not using it for anything. So ok to play with it a bit.

BOINC is a client. The app is SETI@home. I installed both by Dotsch on my Solaris 11 running as a guest OS on VirtualBox. The only problem is that the BOINC client sees my Opteron 1210, which is SSE3 capable, only as a pentium_pro+mmx, therefore the application is slow.
