What a marvellous view of your fellow man you have.

And The Occupiers are painting a Better Picture of Their Fellow Man?

Again, Is The Occupy Movement still going on?

All those People In The Streets. Maybe they can fill some PotHoles while they are milling about. They certainly have proved they can work.

They are Wonderful Street Cleaners. Slave Wage Pay to boot.

Yeah. I think We The People have a way to Clean Up America.

It's Time To Occupy Bbbooooyzzz!

Yes, I'm afraid that you are probably correct in your comment about iPhones and Blacberries....these people often seem to have a strange set of standards. I'd call it hypocrisy. Having said that, I agree with much that Chris says, whilst also pointing out that the Church of England is a rather wealthy institution that 'owns' large tracts of land - as does the Catholic Church and other religious orders.

To avoid the accusation of hypocrisy, the protesters should do what? Give up all their worldly possessions?

Well, they could, as is being widely reported over here, actually occupy their 'camp' 24/7, instead of treating their 'cause' as a 9 to 5 job and going back to their nice comfy beds and hot meals, at night! Part-time protesters, going back home in the evenings and not having to do without home comforts, like, no doubt, food bought from a large company? Apparently, some of these protesters also have to do things like look after their children and go to work, too, as they don't want to lose their jobs. You couldn't make up hypocrisy of that magnitude! Maybe the council responsible for street cleaning should simply remove all the vacant tents overnight and leave the 'protesters' a summons for 'fly-tipping'. Strictly speaking, under Anti-terrorism legislation, their vacant tents can be removed without warning and possibly destroyed by the Security Services at any time......

I see, so in order to protest growing inequity in wealth distribution, one has to put themselves out of work and thereby ensure one contributes to that growing inequity? What else gets added to the list to avoid the charge of hypocrisy? Thus far we have cell phones, hot food, comfy beds, children, jobs and food bought from large companies.

I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

You tell me! They seem pretty lame, compared to the CND protesters that we used to get 'camped' outside the main gate of the RAF station I was stationed at, years ago. Perhaps the modern 'protester', enjoys rather too much, the 'gifts' that the system they hate so much, allows them to have, or lacks that level of conviction.

From a personal perspective, when people were paid by cash for the work they'd done, at the end of the week, the banks were a place you might put your spare cash into. Once the method by which one was paid (and the frequency), changed, the banks then had vast sums of money to 'play with'....in total, massive sums that would never have been 'available' to them, when we were paid in cash. So, what changed all that? You will find no argument from me, that the banks need to be more strictly controlled....especially if you'd paid out some of the insanely high bank charges that I have.

They are just the same greedy bastards they protest against. The only difference is they don't have the brain power to figure out how to get money.

To get money, find an idiot and hire him to do something some other idiot wants done and is willing to pay more for than the idiot you hired charges. If you are the idiot making it, your time is all used up. If you are the middle man, you have time free to do it again and again ergo you get rich.

So the people who work for a living are idiots.

What a marvellous view of your fellow man you have.

Not me, just the 99% version of what the payout for risk should be. If you work for someone you take on zero risk and your pay shows that. Own the business and you take on all the risk and your pay shows that. It is the 99% who sets how much that risk avoidance is worth.

No different than a bank account that pays 0.001% interest and the stock market. Risk vs. reward.

Good Morning Occupiers.

No Government or Corporation has held inordinate sway on me lately. Maybe today?

I'll be checking The News on my Corporate Made TV and Computer(well, I assembled the Corporate Parts into a Computer of My Sort of Choice}.

As I type this I am wearing a shirt made in Corporate Vietnam; undies made in Corporate Dominican Republic and pants made in Corporate Mexico. Socks in, I dunno, but I'm sure it is Not Made in Corporate Amerika.

I'm lighting this room with a Lights of America CFL bulb, although I'll bet a 1000 Yuan it is not made in Amerika.

All in All, plenty to Protest about, but I'll let you Occupiers do my Heavy Lifting. I'll rant and rave about The Little Things in The Comfort of My Corporate Made Home.

Otay?

Watching the violence used by police against peaceful protestors, the more Kent State comes to mind.

Watching no one touching any of the tent cities in major towns, and the tent occupants going home for hot dinner, a bath/shower and sleep.
It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues

I suppose you bought these items because they were the cheapest, or least cheaper than if they were manufactured in the US or EU.

We as consumers must take some responsibility by demanding things to be ever cheaper.

I think the deal here is this -- if your real wages are stagnant or declining (as they have been for 'average' Americans since the Reagan revolution for the wealthy), then you might be trying to mask this by purchasing less expensive (ie foreign) goods.

So I suppose we have some responsibility -- if only we simply recognized our declining standard of living by not buying clothes, electronics, cars, toys, etc. then we would be 'taking one for the Gipper' as that great revolutionary for the wealthy said in one of his movies.

We as consumers must take some responsibility by demanding things to be ever cheaper.

The 1st amendment:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Absolutely. But it says nothing about a law requiring people to not sleep in the park.

Ah, I didn't realize that 47% of the population didn't pay FICA or any state and local taxes. How could I have missed that.

Dull, that truth button needs a bit of help.

I figure you pre-placed buy orders on Monday and now have placed sell orders to execute at market close today.
