Ahoy, shipmates!

Saw a piece of news reporting, that by the end of October, we shall be seven milliard people on this planet. That is seven billion to those, who use a different denomination system; if need be, please refer http://www.merriam-webster.com/table/dict/number.htm.

This is tragic. Of course every single person should be freed from hunger, diseases etc.—but at the same time, I am afraid we are and will be too many. An organised, controlled, even-handed, peaceful, rational world population decline to an ecologically sustainable level within a reasonable number of generations... combined with a full stop to the greedy delusion of limitless economical swelling... plus the obviously necessary globally equal distribution of wealth... that is a complete system readjustment... all right now you can start explaining why not...

I often call you shipmates, because I see mankind that way in this round vessel in the vast Ocean of Universe. But am afraid, that the Captain’s name and general spirit indeed is Ahab. (And if this wasn’t clear, I mean this: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/2701/2701-h/2701-h.htm.)

If only it was possible to come up with a way to change human nature yet allow mankind to still be human. I so fear it will take another leap in evolution that no person can yet foresee. It would seem to me that the world could support many more people than now exist, but the means, that’s the rub. Never forget, the means in oh so many cases do not justify the ends: Please!
