From the posts different experiences dependent on where the poster was.

That was quite a kick in the report.

Looks like it was to far from any major population centers. Another bullet dodged.

I was out shopping and didn't even know there had been one until my mum texted me to say the whole house had been shaking. She was quite freaked out.

I called my partner to ask him if he had felt it and he didn't know what I was talking about. He was downtown in Vancouver. He called me back about half an hour later and said that the lawyer firm he'd gone to pick up documents from was closed because it was on the 29th floor and the building had been swaying making everyone sick.

I've been trying to figure out where I was when it hit and I'm pretty sure I was in the handbag section of The Bay, which explains why I didn't notice anything.

Didn't feel a thing at my house but some people I know who work in office towers downtown said they could feel the building swaying.

The bad news is that the Pacific North-West is way overdue for an 8 or 9 shaker. :|

As was said earlier ...

We are glad that none of you had any problems, except to hear Hev was freaked. If that was the wordt experience of this shaker then ATM it went OK.

And in between the Ocean and the Rockies, is the volatile Cascade Range, One of which blew up and rebuilt itself a bit, Mt St Helens...

Hev was nearer to the epicentre than Kenzie and I. She certainly got a scare. Lots of people here in Vancouver didn't even notice it unless they were in tall buildings. My aunt felt it and she wasn't far from me, but was up in a tall building.

We can see Mount Baker from out window, it's the same classification as Mt St Helens was about a year before it blew.

Yes, it was scary. The whole house shook and stuff was rattling around. No damage though. I think I need earthquake training..

Very glad no one was hurt. I have not heard that any one in workers’ paradise of Alberta felt anything. You are right about the chances of a bigger one coming. I hope it is not in our lifetimes.

We have some cones here in Yermo and there's Elephant Mountain, all are volcanic and all are I think extinct. Oh and if You ever visit Tokyo Japan, Mt Fuji is a similar volcano to Mt St Helens and was a virtual twin, can You say powder keg waiting to go BOOM?

Los Angeles has only Mt Baldy and as far as I can tell, It has sensors all over It from what I read once.

Oh and Yes I'm glad that the people in Vancouver are alright.

Vic, Mt Baldy and all of the San Berdo range are the result of uplift. None are Volcano, dormant or otherwise. Remember the plates are mostly slipping by each other here at the moment. We don't have the subduction that is occurring north of us.

Glad to hear that all of our friends to the north are ok.

We seem to be a bit more fortunate here in the Southwest; even when CA has their "big ones", we don't feel it here in AZ. Must be something about all the granite around here (north-central AZ).

Yeah that's closer, But It's not in the same class as Yellowstone I don't think.

It's that or that big pretty hole in ground that takes the hit. :D

Well, it only blew 600km3 as compared to 1000km3 for Yellowstone but still that is one huge eruption. Kansas was covered in ash.
