How many times have I backpacked to bottom of the Grand Canyon?

How many times did it snow during those hikes?

(Duplicates are allowed for either, but not both).

[Edit] One guess per day per person. I will give a hint per day which will start the next round. Of course, an exact guess will stop the contest as soon as I notice.

[EDIT] I am not saying one way or the other about the count of hikes.

I assume that you are limiting to hikes and not counting other ways in and out, like rafting, helicopter, mules or base jumping.

Yes, I am limiting to hikes as that is the only way I have been in the Canyon.

OK, hint for the day.

Uli is too high on the count of Hikes.
Carlos is too low on both.

I asked how many times it snowed, not on how many hikes it snowed. These could be different.

Sorry but this is your question.
"How many times did it snow during those hikes?"
I am not sure that I understand what you are asking now. Are you asking
1. how many time it snowed any where in the grand canyon during the time span from the first time you hike to the last?
2. how many time it has snowed any where in the grand canyon in recorded history?
3. how many time snow reached the bottom of grand canyon during the time span from the first time you hike to the last?
4. how many time snow reached the bottom of grand canyon in recorded history?
5. how many time did it snow on you while you were in the grand canyon?
My interpretation is the last question.

9 hikes 4 snowed on you.

oh, and you really should try base jumping.

9 hikes 4 snowed on you.
There are two possible interpretations.

On how many hikes did it it snow on us

OR

How many times did it snow on us while we were hiking in the canyon.

Since they were multi day hikes, the two might not be the same. In particular, I was asking about the second of the two.

oh, and you really should try base jumping.

One of the guesses on count of hikes was correct.

Two of the guesses on count of number of times it snowed during those hikes were correct.

Nobody got the combination right.

9 and 3

We have a winner.

I have hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon 9 times. It snowed on two of those hikes - on one of the two hikes it snowed twice. We had a very frustrated foreign visitor that went with us on one of the hikes. No pictures on the first day from the rim because it was snowing. No pictures on the last day of the hike from the rim because it was snowing. Had a lovely week in the canyon. The other hike on which it snowed on us picked a couple of days in the middle of the hike to slush on us. We were in the bottom of the canyon and it was snow until it reached our ankles, at which point it turned into rain.

Thanks for the win John. I went camping in Death Valley once with a Geology class. It snowed there. First time in 80 years I understand but you never know when the white stuff will fall in the South west.

Well sorry to the delay in responding. I took my little girl surfing yesterday. So there's the question. Name the beach.
