I really REALLY hope they meant sewage system and not water supply.. a badly written article is much easier to forgive.. I think that may be a difference between British English and American English usage. I believe the author is trying to say the treated waste water system and not the untreated rainwater system. No way does it mean the potable supply system. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tissue_digestion |

Oh! You saw the News article about death by liquefaction and also freeze drying and powdering as opposed to burial or cremation. Ghoulish! It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

Freeze drying and powdering? Do they also pack the remains in small packs like in instant soup? Maybe the company can print the face of the departed in the pack… Bleeee |

This is The Home Service reporting the latest news on the BBC. It was reported that several inventors were developing environmentally clean ways of completing a loved ones journey in to the next world, using the technology of flash freezing and whole body chemical liquefaction .... After they liquify your flesh the bones are still there. Those they put into a microwave to dry them out and then crush them like a normal cremation, to you get an urn of powder to scatter. I think one place said they would give you a few pails of the dissolved loved one to use as fertilizer if you wanted. I can imagine the Malibu types going for this big time. |

I think they have missed a trick with the water/alkaline resomation process to remove the flesh and viscera, then flushing it to the sewerage system (leaving the bones to be flash dried and powdered as Gary posted). Some doctors practicing sucking out fat for health and cosmetic reasons on fat people (like me @ 72 stone) are treating the yellow liquid fat with alkaline solutions to esterify the gloop. This is then mixed at 50% with mineral diesel and used to drive diesel trucks. Why not reduce the water side of the resomation and then flush the alkaline liquid flesh and viscera to an internal tank. With a bit of acidification to neutralise the pH, the resultant liquid could power a wide range of diesel vehicles from trans continental 44,000 lb HGVs to the hearses. In a world where is still difficult to recycle our common trash, I dont think humans are prepared to start recycling their loved ones, either in fertilizer or in to diesel. Even for me it would be weird the idea that I can have someone's grandpa or grand mom inside the fuel tank of my car. By the way, I'm excluding all religious believes including mine in the thinking process. Just the idea of recycling someone in to diesel is kind of creepy... |
