How about Cider, not Apple Juice, (those across the pond might get confused as they don't have Apple Juice), I've got 45 gallons of homebrew Cider on the go at the moment, with various part-way %ABV, ranging from 8.4% to 9.6%. The Final SG of each batch here will depend on the mix of apples. Legally I can't call it Cider above 8.5% (or 5.5% if I make it fizzy), as its then called 'Made Wine', I reckon the one batch might finish at around 10.2%. The oldest (0.995), is really strong and really smooth, although still live with yeast as its not quite finished, and the other batches are going through similar changes in taste as they get older. I'll need to get hold of 9x 5 Gallon Kegs, and perhaps won't need to buy commercial cider for a few months, ahem! Homebrew beer next me thinks, probably an ale, I may need to convert half the shed, looks like the 20ftx10ft shed wasn't big enough when I bought it; they never seem to be big enough. |

Depends how far you mean to drive, I'm in Shrewsbury, however, the production will be at least a couple of months yet, as the Cider will need casking in a week or so, and will have to stand at least two months for malo-lactic maturation to add extra flavour. It's a long process. I should have a couple of ales before then though, they don't take as long. However, I don't brew low alcohol drinks, so you'd be advised not to drive anywhere after a tasting session. I already have a local Free House interested in stocking my Cider, I may end up going into business small scale, since the first 7,000 litres per annum are exempt Customs & Excise Tax, although profits would obviously be taxed. The pub is talking about paying me £10 a gallon. A big commitment, being a regular producer and wholesaler, I'd have to sleep on the idea. |

You will definetly need a bigger shed. That is a great offer. If you take the offer, I would do per batch/year. If you donate just 1% of the profit to Seti, you have a write off too and a green star. I might be in your area in 2014. I would not mind, taking my Alci allotment to Berkeley. Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

Well it's Friday evening here so that means that I'll walk 3 doors up the hill to the pub, hopefully I may win a meat raffle or 2. :) Cheers. |

You will definetly need a bigger shed. That is a great offer. If you take the offer, I would do per batch/year. I don't know, the local Free House seems to want a continuous supply, and I've just discovered that another Free House is interested in a low alcohol traditional still Cider product, in greater quantities, and then there's my local Rugby Club also wants to stock it at 8%ABV. Its a big commitment. If you donate just 1% of the profit to Seti, you have a write off too and a green star. I've already indicated months ago that I'd sign a UK Gift Aid Form to SETI as soon as they implement it, has there been any progress towards that? I might be in your area in 2014. I would not mind, taking my Alci allotment to Berkeley. I'm sure I'd still be brewing Cider in three years time, I just haven't decided how much! |

I've found I prefer 0.33l bottles. 0.5l is slightly too much alcohol (i.e. i go tipsy). I probably just need more training! |

This is another reason for not bowing down to Brussels. The UK pint gets us 13.6% better value than the Euro 1/2 litre. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

But for a bigger price. Maybe so, but i'm prepared to bet that if we changed to demi-litres, the price would remain the same. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

I like the pint myself but i prefer bavarian Mass whats 1 litre. And you brits have to pay for a pint what we pay for almost double. We bavarians are very thursty guys. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

that if we changed to demi-litres, I thought i was arguing against changing, its British tradition, needing to be protected from the Vandals and the Visigoths, crank up the Elgar, cross-fade to a fluttering Union Jack!... Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

And it's the correct way up, joy! Really annoys me when people hang/draw/hold the Union flag the wrong way up! Or call it the Union Jack when it's clearly not on a boat! (That one could be either so it's ok) Some say that it doesn't really matter, well it does! [/rant] Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

well, not many people are aware, that thing is asymmetric. If you don't look closely, you'd assume the red cross is right in the middle, so there's no way of putting it up the wrong way round... |

IF the red was right in the middle instead of a bit to one side, it wouldn't matter - that's what i meant. And on that note, I'll have a beer! |

Then how would we subtly signal distress? Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |
