I've watched the TV Show EastEnders. Most of the people were walking everywhere. The only old-bangers I saw.....hehehe, nevermind. Manor Bred and University Educated. Ah, The Good Life. I am Null and Void. And a Darwin Barnacle. |

Oh very innovative I must say, not a lot of thought went into that then. And we all know what "affordable housing" means. One parent families with feral kids, and unemployed boyfriends parking old bangers outside. All we will get is the usual East London but in slightly posher houses. Affordable housing...the way to build houses for unmarried mothers. The brain-child of "Hen Deadrock" sorry I meant "Ken Livingstone" Affordable housing..what is affordable housing? Houses built on the cheap. Built to the smallest size you can get away with and built on land where no one normally wishes to reside. What land?..what land does no one wish to reside on? er'..that land running along the side of underground RAILWAY lines for a start...NOT ALL UNDERGROUND RAILWAY LINES ARE ACTUALLY "UNDERGROUND" But they buy these houses though?...no they don't, it's the Housing Associations that buys em' then rents them out to them problem family lots plus the unemployed immigrants too. Affordable housing was the way Government got over the problem of having no council housing stock anymore. Told developers that if they wonted planning permission to build on certain land plots they would have to build "X" amount of council (oooops sorry) affordable housing on these plots too. What were these certain plots....THEM PLOTS NO ONE WISHES TO RESIDE ON !!! This is all before I start on that Olympics fiasco....no asking me,"Would you mind he we add a couple of pounds to your council tax each month to pay for the Olympic Games". "Well, we are going to rejuvenate the South of London with it too". If rejuvenating the South of London was a viable proposition then commercial industry/developers would have done this out of their own pockets 30 years ago !!! Governments and local governments too can come out with some of the most moronic bunkum you could ever wish to hear.....the thing is "They believe in their own rhetoric" Yes, the gun-dog has finally taken charge of the gun!!..So here we have another prime example of "democracy". UK democracy, especially, where it begins when you post into the ballot box then ends once you let go of the voting slip. Move over Obama MJH is marching in to take over the world. You Brits can't sit in the White House oval office!! But Iy's can cos I'ys chews 'garm' and I'ys drinks 'Coke'..don't that make me an "ARL-AMERICAN BLOKE"....Umm...anyway, as I was saying..... |

But back on topic, the Olympic village was a neccessity for the 2012 games, could have been Jerry built and got rid of afterwards, but the plan to provide 60p a week. I'd rather the government picked up the whole bill, but the UK population were quite keen for the country to land the bid, so fair enough. But they say as it is in London why should people in Manchester pay for it?[/quote] Yar...East London, but generally South of me....iiiiiish...hmm The UK population were quite keen for the country to land the bid. May be so but had Manchester, Birmingham or Liverpool won the Olympic bid then the whole country would have had to pay for it, for none of them could have come up with the finances. Still, how poignant politicians are today, HST2 required to revitalise the North where was revitalisation for the North when the Olympics was being bid for. Ah well, we ain't got the transport networks up north to cope with the Olympics. Right, so you would never win a bid for them then. So you want the UK to hold the Olympics knowing only London can host them, then when won and asked to cough-up some money, "Oh no why should we it's in London so they should pay" The trouble with people up-north is they create the North/South divide for their own convenience at times. But it's been a lost opportunity for them, no Olympic developments going on up North that I can see. Also not written in stone that HST2 will come to their supposed rescue either. When the government comes to dot the "I's" cross the "T's" then check their back pockets, oh dear, suddenly find they 'aint got the £39+++++++ billions to spend on it. |

The transformation process is interesting to see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9prmF994Ja4 Yes, gotta admit it does look good on Video & also from the air. However, what is not shown are the changes to the area that does not make any sense whatsoever. I lived in Hackney for over 25 years & often used shortcuts via local roads to get to Leytonstone/Leyton/Stratford & further points east rather than use the major routes as this often meant going out of one's way & also being stuck in traffic jams. I was down there recently & tried to access those shortcuts to save time on the return journey...access denied due to olympic stadium building going on. The point is that there are no olympic building going on at those specific locations. They are blocking access to various areas..... .....Money men talking? A La Docklands/Canary Wharf....properties for the ultra rich again? |
