	Had a computer failure, PSU, mobo, 1 stick RAM and one HDD, that was the Boot drive with BOINC on it. Sorry wingmen you will have to wait. The rebuilt computer has now been on since 15:10 yesterday, and so far has only d/loaded 20 tasks. As this computer before the crash could RAC at 10k cr, if not starved of tasks, this just isn't enough tasks to keep it going. So unless things get sorted quickly, the pipe and the supply of tasks, as I speak there are none available on the servers again, I will have to consider is it worth continuing with Seti. Considering I have been here since close to the beginning and have only stopped crunching during Seti outages or computer faults here, then I believe it is a very black day when I have to consider this.

Have you considered that you're likely overreacting? We're currently in our 3 day outage window and before your post, things were working just fine. 	Has the 3 day outage changed? It used to start on Tuesdays, Berkeley time. i.e. not for ~4hours. It does say 3 days on the main page, but that was in the "old" days, it is as you say 4 hrs or something like that.

	As Slavic said, it's a three day window. 	Didn't think I was wrong. What most north Americans don't consider is how their decisions affect us this side of the pond. Since I retired, to keep costs reasonable, and to relieve some of the stress on Seti, I now only crunch when I am up and about. Approx 16 to 18 hrs a day. But on Friday mornings here after the 3 day maintenance period there are frequently no tasks left, they have been grabbed by others. That means no d/loads Friday as I frequently switch off and go out. On Saturday and Sunday if there are tasks left the pipes are clogged, and that's assuming no server problems. If there are server problems then these probably will not be fixed before I switch off at Monday bed-time. That all means the most likely period I can d/load work is during Tues daytime, because at about 17:00 Tuesday the maintenance period starts again. Therefore as you can see, I might as well switch this computer off until the maintenance is over and look to see if there is any tasks to d/load on Friday or Saturday. And as Matt is part time and usually does not work Fridays, especially if he has a gig on, then don't count on the servers being filled then.

Than give it at least a week before you start to complain, you should know after all this years, that there are days, when the servers might not have the amount of work that we all need. ____________ .

	Consider increasing the amount of additional work your computer downloads. You can increase your additional work buffer to a max of 10 days. ____________

Oh come on now, that is endemic to North America, not specific to Seti :-) Do you run Seti Beta as well as Seti? Do you have other worthwhile Boinc projects running? Are you helping to cure cancer at World Community Grid? All those projects will give your comp worthwhile work to do. So unless things get sorted quickly, the pipe and the supply of tasks, as I speak there are none available on the servers again, I will have to consider is it worth continuing with Seti. Two of my rigs are only on during the day too for the same number of hours as yours but haven't been without work since I set them up a month ago. ____________ Brian.

	Winterknight--you are a wealth of information and a gentleman. That being said, I think you're jumping off the bridge a bit prematurely. Try crunching another project for a bit... Everytime it appears we're headed into a problem time, things always get resolved. This issue too shall pass ____________
