Ah, or you can blame the Tea Party as they are totally focused on taking everything from the poor and middle class and giving it to the rich. As to China, totalitarian governments have a bit more latitude in what they do. So they can build *killer* high speed rail as an example. You may not have noticed, but the Tea Party controls the House of Representatives and spending money for science is really not an agenda item for them. What you can probably accurately blame is the combination of a economic mess (which we spent decades in making) plus a highly partisan environment where both parties complicit. Tagging Obama for this is no more accurate (and perhaps less accurate) than tagging the Tea Party Congress.

I agree that Obama has, since day one, lacked the combativeness and consistency that a crisis President needs to have. Regarding funding for science, between massive government debt and the highly charged political environment, and the short term focus of all our politicians (plus the frankly anti-science views of the party in control of the lower house -- where appropriations must start), it is no surprise that all science funding is getting cut. Regarding tevatron -- it's old technology, the lead developed at CERN was in place a decade ago -- previous Presidents started that downhill slide. In the current environment, no politician can even spell science and get elected in this country. It is interesting that Europe was able to fund and build at CERN given the manifest inability of Europe regarding the Euro.

You may not have noticed, but the Tea Party controls the House of Representatives and spending money for science is really not an agenda item for them. 'Bama cut NASA well before the Tea Party could claim any influence. His budget, with a at the time Democratic House and Senate, so I will blame him. I will agree that none of the political parties grabbing the sensational headlines seems to have any future plans; any plans they have all seem to revolve about schemes to scam the most from the public for their private use in exchange for blocks of votes. |

I thought it was bad enough when, under the provisions of the Patriot Act, as a permanent resident, living in the US without the protections of a citizen, I could be picked up off the street and detained indefinitely without access to legal counsel or to representatives of my nations embassy. Now I live in a world where, even with those protections, I can be killed by executive order without having been indicted, let alone been found guilty, of any crime. Is the accusation (and, perhaps, some evidence that is not in the public record) of being a terrorist sufficient grounds to kill any one, any where? Is that what is meant by "get 'er done"? I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ... |

Is the accusation (and, perhaps, some evidence that is not in the public record) of being a terrorist sufficient grounds to kill any one, any where? You see there was this president shrub who had a lawyer who wrote opinions that the war powers of the prez were absolute. The country elected a prez who swore he would reverse all that. Now he finds it expedient to use all that prez power. The more you hope for change, the more things stay the same. Short answer to your question is yes. No judicial court will review. Only review is if the house votes articles, and the senate convicts. Sentence is pretty light for the crime however. And this is the same that came up with the last targeted execution our Perz did. Apparently we can be at war with a group as the power to do this flows from the war powers of the Prez. As an aside, if a not recognized state declares war on the USA, does the USA have to recognize it as a sovereign state to declare war back on it? What minimum must be in a declaration of war? Who can issue one? (On USA, not by USA) |

Now the choice will be between Obama and someone that the republican party does not have. Again american may have to choose in the future what will be the less evil. Being in the opposotion is easy, specially when no concrete measures are presented. Obama lack's of leadership was disapointing for the american people, when most of his voters where expecting the return of the messiah. Nevertheless, with Palin out, is a defeat for the US LUMPS. |

even if she tried she'd have been a laughing stock. With her you get ignorance of anything of substance and a pretty face. Though she has learned to take large sums of money from the Koch brothers to endlessly give speeches at Tea party rallys In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Oh No! Potus is off The Bus and is Speaking! Say it ain't so. The problem with the hypnotically suggestible is: (1) When they come out of hypnosis, they claim everyone else is (still) under it. (2) They just go look for someone else to hypnotize them, instead of avoiding hypnosis. |

Dull, you should have listened. Prez said he has to put the pressure on so he will veto any attempt to cut spending that Congress passes. So even if Congress comes up with a good plan that is right for the USA Prez has sworn to veto it. He has to foment hatred and pressure so he can get a second term, the USA be damned. |

It is what it is.. People voted for him cause he was supposed to be so great. The largest % of people that voted for him were black. And they have been hurt worse than anyone in the country. Yet 90% of them still are going to vote for him again. Doesn't make any sense to me. Of course I don't trust him or Mitt Romney, who will probably win. I never thought I'd say it but I actually want Newt Gingrich to win the nomination. I am a conservative, but I don't trust fake conservatives. Mitt Romney is that. Obama is the most liberal president in the history of the US, the worst.. Besides Grant, who got drunk all the time and signed bills while he was drunk. But even he didn't spend as much as Obama has by % spent. Obama believes in a socialist utopia. Something that won't work in small countries in Europe. What does he think will happen in a large county like this one? He's not going to stop. Sure the thought of everyone being equal is a nice thought as far as money goes. And he can achieve that, sure. Problem is everyone will be broke as hell. I suppose that's equal though, so him and the Progressive loons will be happy at that point. America! The next third world county. Get ready! Terry |

Black americans are not in the Majority in this country so thats a lie. What is true is that Democrats actually showed up and voted. White black and hispanic and every other ethnicity. BTW no matter the presidential candidate you can almost guarantee a 90-95% democratic vote from black americans. Period In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. I wondered why he did the GM and Chrysler bail out. Isn't it grand that they are now owned by the Government. Oh wait. Damn facts are so much of a pain.
