After all, the only reason there is ever an outage is to make the crunchers mad, right? Matt and Eric log in remotely on Sunday nights and shut things down just to make everyone mad, right? Didn't you know, this is a psychology experiment not a space thing. They just want to see our reactions to these outages and problems. :-) Actually it's being run by ET to find out if we can be trusted with contact. PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |

As a non tester I will add my 2 cents. We are all in it to be the one to find the SIGNAL. So what if Joe Momma joins this team or that team or no team. Rac is NOTHING. So who cares what team is in the lead. What can you buy with credits? A toaster? a lapel pin, coffe cup. The only thing you get is bragging rights. So For me, I could give a flying toaster who has the rac lead because I will be the one with my pitiful crunchers who finds the WOW:) [/quote] Old James |

(...) What mean 'topkick'? The Google translator don't know it. ;-) If it mean leader or chief.. AFAIK, the Lunatics crew don't have a chief, all members are equal. - Best regards! - Sutaru Tsureku, team seti.international founder. - Optimize your PC for higher RAC. - SETI@home needs your help. - |

(...) It means bossman, head honcho, honorary leader, foreman, head cheerleader...LOL. Jason is all of those things. That's not to say he does not treat his contemporaries as equals. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

The programers and testers at Lunatics are crunchers same as all of us. They are free to join whatever team they wish if they so desire. On the other hand they could also form their own team and easily crush all of us. I can tell you this..........they spend countless hours debuging and improving their software. This is more than a hobby for them it is true devotion their craft. And they receive little in support from the rest of us. A big "thank you" should be in order, not the crap that has been said by some here. Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....Boinc.... |

I post this here since i can't post it on lunatics(I am non member).... Hi TQ, Thanks for asking. Due to abuses of security (namely stealing of pre-Release builds out via back door via exploits in the forum software), a grab 'n run without fulfilling requested testing regimens, & spamming of the boards, membership was closed some time ago, and new memberships for beta testing (enabling posting on those boards) & development by special invite only. All public releases remain available for download, and forum posts are readable. If you have any questions about Lunatics releases, I suggest asking on this forum. If you are a skilled software tester & wish to do beta testing, submitting machine & background information to myself via PM will start the process for consideration. Thanks for your patience & understanding. Regards, Jason "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. @Mods: Since this thread was targeted at my joining the GPU Users group, and was concocted to provoke a response (which I do now) and attacks me directly, I was tempted request its sanitization/removal. Instead I outline some detail and a warning. My joining of the GPU users group was a strategic move to ensure the highest quality testing was available for the refinement of the software intended for Stock Cuda V7 & Kepler reobservation. 'This clown' has had his IP logged stealing prerelease builds out the back door (via forum software exploits), and these logs have been forwarded to the Australian Federal Police's Internet Crimes Task force. Having recently been handed the keys to the Lunatics site, I have elected to clean up download access & maintain participation at a high privilege, by invitation level as was initiated by the previous 'Janitor of the Board'. Criteria for involvement are, but are not restricted to: - No personality conflicts with key members - Testing what is asked for, and supplying the requested feedback - Not passing on builds not intended for general release - Some minimum of testing skill & other requirements at the discretion of the lead developers in the area required. No measurable damage is done so far, since builds that were stolen were relatively refined at the time. It is however, absolutely critical to the project that refinement of the new V7 and GBT data processing development proceed in a controlled fashion. I am sure I don't need to explain why that is important. Thanks, Jason "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all.
