"... Computing suspended while computer NOT in use" Project task stalled at 69.97%. I had "customized" the prefs while not really knowing what some of the prefs items meant, i guess. Since i think i have the prefs back to default buit can't be sure. Still same screensaver message. Ideas? CCC aka JJ |

That sounds like a non-zero setting for Suspend work if no mouse/keyboard activity in last --- minutes Needed to enter low-power mode on some computersin your Computing preferences. Make sure to "Clear" the local preferences if you want to use the online ones. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. followed your advice... now just stuck on "loading screensaver graphics. please wait" I really mwould love to continue contributing, had thousands of hour in classic til 5 years ago, but way to robust (complicated) for my taste. If there is no way to really get to the bottom o' this issue, my inclination is to uninstall and wish everyone else well. CCC |

It's hard to help you considering we don't now what you changed initially, or what you changed back so that you think they're back to default settings. It's also hard to help because we don't know if you changed the settings online or locally through BOINC Manager. It makes a different because the local preferences override the online ones, and you have to set them in the right place to fix them. And honestly, the screen saver is just pretty graphics that slow down the processing. You can run the science app in the background without running the screen saver and you'll get better performance. And lastly, if you used to be a member a while ago, you should follow the link on the front page here for reclaiming your original start date and have a momento of your old stats added to your account. You only need to remember what email you used at signup back then and you can get those stats added to your account. |

PROBLEM SOLVED Apparently... BUT The new task took forever to appear in the task window as the server was not responding to BOINC or web access. It now is still just sitting there in "downloading" status at 0.000%. Could it be berkeley.edu servers are slammed? under maintenance? what gives if you know. CCC |

Could it be berkeley.edu servers are slammed? under maintenance? what gives if you know. I do know that the entire website was down for most of Sunday night until someone got in the lab at 9:00AM Berkeley time. More than likely this affected downloads as well. |
