You attached the last computer on 20 May 2011 | 1:43:43 UTC. What prevents you from attaching a new one?

Gundolf

Message 1125528 - Posted: 7 Jul 2011, 16:44:09 UTC - in response to Message 1125419.

I attached a new pc to my account, I have a pent and an amd.The pent is still there. But i also added the amd after so i could have both crunching. But amd is not crunching much at all. How do i access the amd to check preferances and get better performance out of it. My Pent is doing about 1,000 a day. The amd is doing about 125 a day. ?

But amd is not crunching much at all.

Indeed, it still hasn't returned tasks sent on 20 May 2011 | 23:47:45 UTC and the first will time out on 9 Jul 2011 | 2:04:57 UTC.

Your AMD host has an average turnaround time of 43.84 days!

Doesn't it run 24/7? Are there any error messages in the BOINC event log?
[edit]Please don't post your complete log! About 20 to 30 lines after a restart are enough.[/edit]

Your two finished tasks have run for about five hours but have been at your host from May 21 until July 3 resp. July 6! How come?

Greetings,
Gundolf

When I look at your tasks for the only computer on your account, they are showing as "Timed Out".

Now, this may not be a problem on your end since these files may have never actually reached your computer but the server simply thinks it sent them.

But if those files are on your computer and you're not processing any of the work, I would check your settings to see what is causing them to not be processed.

By the way, your issue is different that the thread you posted in, so you should have really opened up your own thread for this topic.

I fully admit to being pretty computer illiterate, so posting where I did was all in all a great acomplishment on my part. Let me say this, all the tasks are fully complete and are awaiting transfer, however, I can not get any comunication going again between my computer and Seti's. I will maintain an eye on this spot for further comments as I have not much of a clue as to where else to look, as you can see I have been processing since Dec 99 and have seen outages and such before so I thought that was the problem. Thanks a heap, msrnla

Message 1126060 - Posted: 8 Jul 2011, 21:12:45 UTC - in response to Message 1126051.

There have been ongoing problems with people all over the world and their computers connecting to Seti. This isn't a Seti problem, but one of their ISP Hurricane Electric. It is being looked into, but thus far apparently no true fix yet.

You can check if you're one of the people with that problem, by looking at this thread in the Number Crunching forum and following the steps in that.

There is also a possible temporary fix available in this thread, in the form of using an external proxy.

No problem with the not knowing computers thing! :)

Can you post the messages listed under Advanced -> Event Log? Only the first 20 or 30 messages will suffice. It should help us determine what BOINC is or isn't doing.

Ok, you're having problems connecting to SETI's servers.

Can you press the Start button and go to Run (or you can press Start and then press CTRL+R at the same time), and in the Run box type CMD then press enter.

This should bring you to a command prompt. At the command prompt, type:

PING 208.68.240.13

Then copy and paste the results here?

Ok, then you are one of the people affected by SETI's ISP DNS issue. Read Pond Grass Shrimp's post above for more info.

There is nothing wrong on your end, and technically there's nothing wrong with SETI's end either. The problem lies in between you and SETI, causing connection issues.

SETI@Home has notified their ISP about the DNS issue and has opened a support ticket to get it resolved. All I can suggest is patience while they work on it.

I have read a lot of the posts now and since I only run SETI I believe I will just sit and stand by while things are restored to original. I will not leave SETI as long as some progress is being attempted, especially since it is niether SETI nor I that has the problem as I understand it. Thanks to all that are working on this problem, msrnla
