I installed SETI@home two days ago, but I'm not sure if I did it correctly. When the screensaver pops up, it does indeed say BOINC, but it says that I have "0 credits", which leads me to think that it's not actually working. Is there any way I can tell if SETI@home is working?

Welcome to SETI@home and the boards! :-)

Obviously, you installed BOINC correctly and attached your computer to SETI@home, since it has downloaded a task on 2 Jul 2011 | 2:16:06 UTC.

Whether it's really running, you can see with the BOINC manager (simple or advanced view) and/or with the windows task manager.

Gruß,
Gundolf

Actually, when I open up the BOINC manager, it says I have 0.00 work done. Something is wrong. Is there any way I can uninstall BOINC and then reinstall? Or is there a way to fix this without having to uninstall?

Are you speaking of the % completed column on the Tasks tab or about your credits?

What's the local status of your one downloaded task (29ap11ai.17214.2521.11.10.241_0)?

Have you found the BOINC event log yet? ;-)

Gundolf

I don't know what credits are, but I clicked on "Projects" and it says "Work Done -- 0.00".

I don't know what the event log is. I don't know what a local status is.

However, on "Tasks", there is a meter that is increasing by percentage. At the present, it is 17% complete. I suppose this is a good sign.

That are the credits. They are increased when you return finished work and the computer that had been sent the same task has returned similar results.

I don't know what the event log is.

No problem. ;-)

That's exactly what I meant with "local status", as opposed to the online status, which only says "In progress".

Meanwhile, your BOINC client has downloaded three more tasks, so all seems well.

Gundolf
